The US is a popular destination for pursuing Masters in various courses such as computer science, chemistry, mathematics, nuclear science etc. Every year more than a hundred thousand students graduate from the best universities in the country. The international students form a major part of the overall strength of the students in the MS courses at these universities.
However, the flip side of the coin is that the acceptance rate at the top 20 universities is very skewed and is declining with each passing year. If a student were to study in a low ranked university in the US, it wouldn’t make sense for him to leave his own country and spend close to $60,000. The case of students from underdeveloped or slowly developing economies is slightly different from the higher education facilities in their countries may not be developed.
Given below is the acceptance rate for the MS courses in the 10 best US Universities:
Name | Acceptance Rate |
HARVARD UNIVERSITY | 10.4% |
YALE UNIVERSITY | 11.4% |
PRINCETON UNIVERSITY | 12.7% |
STANFORD UNIVERSITY | 13.0% |
COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK | 13.2% |
CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY-SAN LUIS OBISPO | 15.9% |
MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY | 15.9% |
BROWN UNIVERSITY | 16.4% |
UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO-BAYAMON | 18.1% |
DARTMOUTH COLLEGE | 18.5% |
WILLIAMS COLLEGE | 19.2% |
