How Long Does the Program Last?

The Future Leaders in Law Program is a year-long commitment. The program starts in June 2025 with a Summer Residency at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA. This is a special event where you’ll meet with professors, students, and legal experts to learn about law and the legal profession. You’ll also visit Paul, Weiss in New York, NY, where you can see how a top law firm operates and learn directly from experienced lawyers.

Is There a Cost to Apply or Participate?

One of the best parts of the Future Leaders in Law Program is that it’s completely free to apply and participate. There are no application fees, and all the costs for the program are fully funded. This means that Harvard Law Schoolwill cover everything for you, including:

Travel expenses (to get to and from the Summer Residency)
Lodging (where you’ll stay during the residency)
Study materials and other necessary resources

Additionally, if you need help paying for law school application fees, LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service (CAS) reports, or the LSAT, the program provides need-based assistance.

And that’s not all! If you successfully complete the program, you’ll receive a $3,000 stipend, which is a nice financial bonus for your hard work.

Summer Residency

The program kicks off with the Summer Residency at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, MA, and a visit to Paul, Weiss in New York, NY. During the residency, you’ll get the chance to meet legal professionals, hear from professors, and learn about law school and the legal profession. This is an in-person event, and it’s where the program really begins.

LSAT Preparation

As part of the program, you’ll receive LSAT preparation to help you get ready for this important exam. The LSAT is the test required for admission to law school, and the program will provide support to help you perform your best. The LSAT prep course will be online and held in a remote, synchronous format, meaning you’ll join live classes from home.

Zero-L Course

Zero-L is an online course designed to give you a strong foundation in law, even if you’ve never studied it before. This course helps you learn the basics of law and prepares you for the challenges you’ll face in law school. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, Zero-L ensures that everyone is on the same page when they start law school.

Empowerment Sessions

Every Saturday, you’ll take part in Empowerment Sessions. These sessions are a mix of workshops, skills-building activities, and mentorship opportunities. You’ll work on your law school application, improve your study skills, and learn from legal professionals who will help guide you along the way. Do You Need to Attend Everything?

Yes! As we know, Harvard consistently ranks amongst the top universities in the world and its resources offered are outstanding. To get the most out of the Future Leaders in Law Program, you are expected to attend and participate in all the core program components. This includes the Summer Residency, LSAT preparation, the Zero-L course, and the Empowerment Sessions. If you can’t attend the Summer Residency or miss any other important part of the program, you may not get the full benefit of what the program has to offer.

Eligibility Requirements: Can I Apply?

This program is designed for students who are interested in law and plan to apply to law school in the future. However, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

Application Deadline: The application for the 2025-2026 program is open now. All application materials must be submitted by March 12, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
Commitment: The program is a year-long commitment. If you’re selected, you’ll need to attend all core program activities, starting with the Summer Residency in June 2025.
Law School Plans: The Future Leaders in Law Program is designed for students who plan to apply to law school in the Fall of 2027 or later. If you’re planning to apply for law school in the fall of 2025 or 2026, this may not be the right program for you.
Interview: If you’re selected as a finalist, you’ll be invited for an interview via Zoom in April 2025. The final decisions will be made and communicated to applicants in May 2025.

Does This Program Help You Get Into Harvard Law School?

It’s important to note that acceptance into the Future Leaders in Law Program does not guarantee admission to Harvard Law School. The program is separate from the Harvard Law School J.D. admissions process, so even if you are accepted into this program, it does not give you preference in the regular law school application process.
