I have seen advertisements by US educational consultants guaranteeing admission and study visa to US. Are those claims true ? Is it worth going through those consultants ?

My short answer is no, do not trust that kind of advertisement. First of all, admission decision is made by the school you’re applying to. Second of all, your US visa is decided and granted by the US embassy. Therefore, any consulting service you use is only the middle man who does not have the power to give you any kind of guarantee. By calling themselves consultants, that’s the most they can do – consult you in terms of prepping you, helping you with application materials, etc.

If you really want to go with a consultant for more security, go with one that does not guarantee you anything. Rather, they should be advertising their service in such a way that they will provide good resources and guide you throughout the entire process.

Good point and I agree! There might be contracts that these admission consulting firms have with certain universities. For example, the school reserves x number of spots from these firms only. People can make that happen because of their own connections or previous success of sending good candidates to the schools. It could be a good thing. On the flip side of that, you will run into firms that are extremely successful with reputable schools. OR, you may run into firms that only work with less reputable schools and it is easier to gain admission – hence they dare to give you a guarantee. I’d just do my own homework instead of cutting corner and getting things done by other people.

I have experience with getting F1 visa as well, for almost 10 years. You are treated as an individual, I am not convinced that someone else could represent you to guarantee results. The most that you can get help with is making sure all your forms and materials are gathered before going in for an interview. In most cases you can practice some of the typical interview questions as well.
