How important is GRE score for graduate admissions to US universities ?

I have completed my bachelors in Electrical Engineering with a GPA of 2.94 on a scale of 4. For admission in Engineering Masters, is it that only the quantitative GRE score is important or the verbal section is also important? For example, if someone has a GRE Quantitative score of 162 but his Verbal score is 155, can he still get admission in a good US university with a gpa of 2.9?

Universities normally publish their statistics rather than minimum. Depending on the program you’re applying for, different factors in your application weights differently. For Engineering though, of course, quant score is crucial. Verbal is important too but if you have very strong quant score, admission is more likely to look pass low verbal.

GPA 2.9 from what school is important too because some schools are more competitive than others. Also, is that cumulative GPA or major GPA? Following that train of thoughts, what schools are you trying to get into for the Master’s program? Maybe 2.9 isn’t that far from average. You will need to do more research to personalize your case/ application.
