I am a student in India and I talked to a educational consultant about my higher education plan. They suggested me some universities in UK and some in Australia. They did not knew much about universities in US and advised against applying citing visa issue, jobs and recession.  I am not sure of what he is saying is correct or not. Not sure why he is not encouraging me to apply to US universities.

I am an average student with 78% marks (8.4 CPI out of 10) with GMAT score of 680. I know I cannot get into Harvard or Wharton and I do not plan to waste my application money there. How do I find other good MBA colleges in US where I have a decent chance of getting admission ? basically I am looking for good alternatives to Wharton and Harvard.

I am shortlisting the universities for masters in electrical engineering.  There are some universities where I have better chances of securing scholarship(financial aid) but they do not have high rankings.

On other hand there are some universities which rank pretty high, tuition is expensive and my chances of getting financial aid is very slim. I am confused what should I do.
