Scholarships are the best way to pay for a college education. But they are highly competitive. Scholarships depend on outstanding academic records, which fetch a ‘merit-based scholarships’. The chances for student’s success are often determined by the quality of their application and whether or not they are in financial need. There are several things students can do to improve their chances of gaining a scholarship. When applying for scholarships, students should make sure to include all the documentation requested and dedicate plenty of time to writing the application.

Depending on the level of study and the merit, the student gets the scholarship based on the different opportunities. Scholarships are dedicated to the Master’s, Ph.D., Doctoral students, and academic research holders. They are also available for international students.

Graduate students rely greatly on Scholarships/Financial aid, especially in areas where they have a high need, such as studying or teaching. However, all graduates are not eligible and do not always meet the living costs of a degree. Most scholarship providers help graduate students complete their college journeys with a little extra money.

Few scholarships are stated below:

College-Based Awards: Colleges know that graduate school is expensive, and many are willing to help the students graduate. In addition to traditional scholarships & financial aid opportunities, graduate students interested in being teaching assistants or pursuing research, universities aid their alumni through tuition discounts on graduate programs and additional certification/training.

Career-Specific Scholarships: Many organizations offer graduate scholarships to those pursuing a particular field. Each scholarship is worth $5,000, which is can be less or more. Other awards for those pursuing healthcare fields, the ACHE awards 20 scholarships each year.

Research Fellowships: The National Science Foundation offers a Graduate Research Fellowship Program. This offers opportunities to graduate students interested in pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines. Fellows are expected to become experts who can contribute to research, teaching, innovations in science engineering, etc.

SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry: Students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible to receive some level of funding through the federal direct loan program. These loans are available to qualify graduate students who are taking at least four credits during the fall and spring semesters, and two credits during summer. Private loans are also available.
