Scholarships for pursuing Masters in the US 15

Yes, it is true that the education in the US is very expensive, whether it be undergraduate bachelor degrees or graduate programs like MS and MBA. Applying for any of them without making arrangement for funding and scholarships so as to meet the total cost of attendance is sheer folly, unless and until you have enough of your parent’s money to support your education.

International students should pay special attention towards the funding and scholarship options available to them for pursuing Masters in the US, especially those that hail from developing and underdeveloped nations whose currency is weaker than the US dollar. This directly implies that in terms of their own currency, they will have to incur the higher amount of expenditure, which is not a very good idea. In these cases, in fact, students should try for scholarships in the US that help them pay for their education.

The Good News is…

That it is possible to finance the major chunk of tuition cost in a Masters program through scholarships. However, everybody is not that lucky to be able to receive more than $10,000 to $15,000 as part of education scholarships and that also depends on a lot of factors.

Where to search and apply for the US Masters Scholarships?

The best place to search for scholarships is the financial aid office of the college or the university where you intend to pursue your Master’s degree. Check for the scholarships available in the financial aid section along with the scholarship requirements like the documents, academics, GRE scores etc.

For external scholarships, the internet is the best place to begin. Many specialty websites are there that deal with scholarship matters, providing the students and the parents with all the information that they need regarding the scholarship programs available in the country.

How much is GRE score needed to get MS scholarships?

Good academics certainly influence the scholarships matters and students are always enquiring about the average GRE score that is needed to get the scholarships that they want. GRE scores above the 80th percentile are considered good for scholarship purpose. Every college has its own eligibility requirements policy where finance and funding are concerned. Check out the requirements in detail on the college website and make the most of your scholarship essay (if you are required to write one) in showcasing your eligibility for the scholarship. However, do not go above board or try to justify low scores in 10th and 12th.

More information on Masters scholarships in the US will be put up on the blog, so as to help students plan their scholarship application well and get sufficient funds to finance their Master’s education. Detailed information on the scholarship amounts available also helps in determining the actual monetary benefits of pursuing a Masters Degree program in the US.

      Hi Neha,
Colleges start the school admissions in two sessions. Most schools start academics from mid August and end at winter break being mid December, which is the Fall session. Spring semester starts when student gets back from winter break, the first or second week of January until the end May.
We will soon update our site with the good universities to apply for depending on the score. Please look out for details.
Being a potential student from India, you can obtain detailed admission information from USEFI- United States Educational Foundation in India (http://www.usief.org.in/).
They are Perhaps the Best and also the Official Source of Information on US Universities and Visa Related Queries located in India.
USEFI has its Headquarters in New Delhi and three Regional Offices in Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai. USEFI also has satellite centers in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
