The Board of Directors has approved a new Master of Arts program at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside: online M.A. in the field of professional communication. This will be the first master’s program at the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and with the implementation of this program, the University is now offering master’s programs in each of its four schools.
The Communication Department provides diverse, student-oriented, and community-based services focusing on the creation of leadership skills. The Communication Graduate Major at UW-Parkside is the ninth highest on enrollment. This new initiative responds to the regional market demands of business leaders and those involved in leadership to gain specialized information and professional communication skills.
Students may study community and organizational leadership, community relations, and applied social media. Graduates in both the undergraduate and new graduate programs would be well prepared to connect professionally to diverse audiences.
This program responds to the exciting future of UW-Parkside in its 2025 Strategic Plan to increase annual graduates by 50 percent and expand the adult learner’s program scope. In the academic year 2019-2020, UW-Parkside graduated the highest number of students in its history and received 13 percent of the overall graduates of the previous year.
Currently, UW-Parkside partners with UW Expanded Campus in 13 online collaboration projects, the highest number of UW institutions. Enrollments in these services have increased by 55% over the last five years, with significant extra enrollment growth anticipated from Flex B.S. in the administration of a business.
The Online MBA program was introduced in the fall of 2018 and the program has expanded steadily, with more than 375 students expected to enroll in the fall of 2020.
