Indiana State University
If they are accepted to graduate degrees (or first-time teacher credential programs) and fulfill other eligibility requirements, graduate students may be eligible for federal student loans. Financial assistance is not available for degree programs. Private alternative loans may help students pay for college costs that may not be covered by federal loan programs or other financial assistance.
West Virginia University
In the form of a graduate teaching assistantship, which includes a stipend and a complete waiver of university tuition, many graduate students receive financial assistance. These are awarded mostly taking into account the academic record of the student along with the letters of recommendation and any supplementary details indicating the potential for the success of the student in the program.
Teaching experience and/or the potential for excellent teaching may be a factor in certain situations. In the Institute for Mathematics Learning (IML) of the Department, teaching assistants have the opportunity to work with the faculty. There are also a limited number of research assistantships available, typically from external funding.
Applications for a graduate program submitted by the deadline of 15 February will receive complete consideration for the following fall semester for financial support. Late applications are approved, but students are advised to verify the accessibility of assistantships with the graduate director. Another financial aid provides partial waivers of university tuition and part-time jobs in educational computer laboratories, such as grading assistance.
For international students whose native language is not English, TOEFL / IELTS scores are required, and passing the university SPEAK exam is required for international students to be granted teaching assistantships.
Bowling Green State University
Roughly 55 teaching assistantships are offered by the Department. Masters student assistantships are usually $12,500 for the nine-month academic year, $16,500 for Ph.D. students.
There is also summer funding ranging from $1,000-$2,000 available.
The Summer Fellowship Program, which starts in the last week of June and carries a $1,000 stipend for the six-week course, invites new and incoming students to participate. A tuition scholarship is offered to students earning a stipend from the department in most circumstances.
Of the university full-time graduate students, about two-thirds are fully funded. Women and minorities are particularly encouraged to apply (women and/or minorities are over 50 percent of our sponsored graduate students). Owing to the low cost of living in Bowling Green, current graduate students find these department assistantships adequate for their year-round costs.
Michigan Technological University
Students that have already rendered service to the United States of America are qualified for National Service Graduate Fellowships. Qualified graduate students are given a fellowship that lowers their tuition rate by up to 33%.
