Boston University's Metropolitan College offers a Master of Science in Project Management degree. Students are given a unique opportunity to combine a general understanding of business and management principles with specialized knowledge of effective project-based methods. They can select compulsory courses and electives from the MS in Project Management curriculum to fit their specific academic and professional goals. By choosing an optional degree emphasis, they can also take a more specialized approach to their studies.
The 40-credit program can be completed in 12 to 20 months. Some learning outcomes of the master's program are:
- Create a project plan and understand the essential plans for its scope, schedule, budget, quality, communications, resources, and procurement. Students should also be able to create an agile or plan-based project management life cycle and show that they are proficient in using it for projects that are relevant to their field of expertise.
- Exhibit an advanced understanding of the concepts of project delivery, including risk management, stakeholder engagement, teamwork, value, stewardship, and leadership. After evaluating their own strengths and shortcomings, students will strengthen their teamwork abilities and learn how to lead and manage a group of people.
