The MSIT: Information Security & Assurance program at Carnegie Mellon University gives students a thorough understanding of data privacy, information security, and risk management. By utilizing the world-renowned CERT Division of Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute's experience in security research, operations, and analysis, this program exposes students to top practitioners in the industry.

The curriculum is developed to accommodate both technical and non-technical professionals. To accommodate working students, the MSIT program offers flexibility in both content and structure. They can use their newfound knowledge and abilities right away by continuing to work full-time while pursuing their degree part-time.

The university is one of just 11 academic institutions that have been named a Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in all three focus areas—Cyber Defense (CD), Cyber Operations (CO), and Research (R)—by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security. The CAE initiatives support research and higher education in the vital field of cybersecurity.
