MS in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Admission Requirements

The following groups of students may apply to the graduate program: regular, associate, or non-degree. Only individuals who have been officially admitted by the graduate program office of a suitable college or by a department in one of the aforementioned categories may register for graduate courses or take them for credit, with the exception of qualified Lehigh undergraduates.

  • An official transcript from each university attended is required
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation are required
  • A $75 non-refundable application fee is required

GRE is required for MS in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics

Online Mechanical Engineering

Admission requirements for Online Mechanical Engineering (Master's) at Lehigh University are:

1.The minimum required gpa is 3.0.

2.Transcript.

3.Two letters of recommendation.

4.GRE scores  are not required for Online Mechanical Engineering (Master's) at Lehigh University.

5.IBT TOEFL scores are required for International students.

M.S. in Bioengineering - GRE Required

The admission requirements for the M.S. in Bioengineering program are:

  • Bachelor’s degree of Science (B. S.) or a Master of Science (M.S.) in engineering or science
  • Application fee of $50, payable to "Lehigh University", which is non-refundable.
  • GPA of at least 3.00 in a minimum of 12 hours of graduate work at other institutions.
  • GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is required. Scores at or above the 75th percentile on the GRE in the Quantitative and Analytical areas are desirable (Average GREQ range: 157-167). 
  • An official transcript from each university attended is required. 
  •  Two (2) letters of recommendation are required from qualified individuals, to evaluate the applicant's academic achievement and potential for graduate studies.
  • A personal essay, summarizing of the applicant’s career objectives and work experience with reference to the chosen field of graduate study.

Bioengineering Admissions Guidelines

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

1. Bachelor’s degree of Science (B. S.) or a Master of Science (M.S.) in engineering or science and at least two of the following:

(a)An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00.

(b)A GPA of at least 3.00 for the last two semesters of undergraduate study.

(c)GPA of at least 3.00 in a minimum of 12 hours of graduate work at other institutions.

2. Minimum course requirements include:

(a)2 years of calculus, through differential equations.

(b)One year of physics.

(c)Sufficient background in biology (to be determined by the admissions committee) to serve as pre-requisite for required graduate course in Advanced Biology.

3. GRE (Graduate Record Examination) Official scores are required. Scores at or above the 75th percentile on the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) in the Quantitative and Analytical areas. We do not require the GRE subject test.

4. The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Test System) is required for all applicants whose native language is not English. If the applicant received a degree in the United States within the past two years, this test is waived. Both the TOEFL and the IELTS are only valid for two years from the date the test was taken.

(a)Individual "skill section score" recommendations for Lehigh University and the iBT (Internet based TOEFL) are: Writing - 20; Speaking - 20; Reading - 20; Listening - 15 (Composite score = 79).

(b)Individual "skill section score" recommendations for Lehigh University and the IELTS are: Writing - 6.0; Speaking - 6.5; Reading - 6.5; Listening - 6.0 (Overall score = 6.0).

(c)Any student with one or more individual skill section scores below these targets will be required to take an English as a Second Language (ESL) course or tutoring in the International English Language Center (IELC) during the initial academic year, concurrent with their regular department coursework. Any student with two or more skill section scores below these targets, and a composite score below 79, will be required to attend the StepUp Intensive English Program at Lehigh.

5. An official transcript from each university attended is required. All transcripts should be converted to the American 4.0 grading scale, if possible.

6. Two (2) letters of recommendation are required from qualified individuals to evaluate the applicant's academic achievement and potential for graduate studies.

Education Specialist (Ed.S.) School Psychology and PA School Psychologist Certification: No GRE required

Admission requirements for Education Specialist (Ed.S.) School Psychology and PA School Psychologist Certification:

  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Transcripts, minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Personal statement
  • Résumé.
