In this technology-dependent world, young people need than ever to be digitally literate. If you are an aspiring or current middle or high school teacher wishing to become a school or district technology expert, this program will help you reach your goal. You'll learn teach students to understand the critical fundamentals of technology and engage them with coding, robotics, and gaming. You'll discover prepare them to pursue the computer science and related careers of the future.

Explore digital tools and the essentials of computer science, makerspace activities, and programming. Learn to use systems and computational thinking. Discover ways to teach all students to be collaborative problem solvers, and to help them use high and low-tech tools to make ideas tangible.

If you don't need a master degree, we also offer a license-only program in Digital Literacy and Computer Science.

Full-time or part-time on-campus, off-campus, or teacher residency program.

Five courses in secondary education and four courses in digital literacy and computer science, including robotics and coding. (A course in Sheltered English Instruction may be waived with documented state-approved SEI endorsement, reducing total program credits by four.).

The M.Ed. in Digital Literacy and Computer Science (5-12) is approved by the Massachusetts Elementary and Secondary Education for: Initial Teacher License in Digital Literacy and Computer Science (5-12) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

During your program, you'll be part of an advising team.

Our on-campus programs are offered in a combination of face-to-face, remote synchronous via Zoom, or asynchronous online courses.

In our off-campus programs, you'll study with the same cohort of students one weekend a month in eight-week semesters, and earn your degree in two years. And due to pandemic circumstances, our off-campus programs, usually held at in-person sites, have shifted to remote synchronous. This means you can join via Zoom from wherever you are. Classes will be at specified times (synchronous), so you must attend virtual classes during the scheduled class time.

A new cohort for this program will start in Spring of 2023.

In this program format, you participate full-time in the life of the school, and take classes at both the school site and Lesley.
