The CMS master’s program was and is the only one to combine a humanities education with hand-on practice within research groups- what they often call “applied humanities. Comparative Media Studies master’s students to build on our tradition of leadership to focus historical and theoretical attention on the world’s changing media environment. We’re looking for students ready to observe first-hand, and then contribute to, the experimentation and research leading to the next wave of media breakthroughs.

To the Graduate Program MIT Graduate Program in Comparative Media Studies

Applicants who take the test after December 15 cannot be considered for admission. However, the general test is available to be taken online in most places, so the GRE is still required.

Applicants who are tested after December 15 cannot be considered for admission. CMS does not accept TOEFL scores. If the applicant holds a degree from an English-speaking institution, verifiable by transcript, the university can waive the IELTS requirement. Therefore, the university will accept IELTS scores up to January 15, 2021.

Three Letters of Recommendation: At least two must be academic recommendations online submission required.
