To be eligible for consideration to any Tandon MS or Ph.D. program, you must hold a Bachelor degree from an accredited institution, which includes a minimum of four years of full-time study. Bachelor of Engineering degrees (based on 180 ECTS credits) may also be considered. Attention will be given to the programs accredited by ABET and programs accredited approved by other various regional accrediting associations. Please be advised that admission to a program that is different from your field of study may require the completion of prerequisite courses before you will be permitted to begin graduate-level coursework. The NYU Tandon School of Engineering reserves the right to investigate or disqualify educational credentials on a case-by-case basis.
The application for admission must be completed and submitted electronically once you have answered all required questions. You may access your application with your username and password from any computer with internet access in order to change your answers as many times as you until you submit it.

The Office of Graduate Admissions requires all applicants to complete the application and does not accept paper-based applications. If you have any issues with submitting an application via the application system, please contact our office. The application must be completed and electronically submitted on or before the posted deadline for the term of entry. After you submit the application, you will not have access to edit or change the information you have supplied. If you wish to submit updated documentation, you must mail it to our document processing center. Documents received from the student via email will not be accepted to processed.
The application fee is $75 and is payable in the system by major credit card. If you are having problems submitting your payment via credit card, please contact the Office of Graduate Enrollment Management and Admissions. If paying the application fee poses a financial hardship for you, we don’t want that to stop you from applying.
Official transcripts are required and must be received before an application is reviewed. A hard copy transcript is considered official when it is in a sealed, unopened envelope sent directly from your previous institution. To complete your application, submit official transcripts and proof of your degree (if completed) from all previously attended post-secondary institutions, even if you were not a matriculated student and or did not complete an academic program. Failure to submit all academic records will delay the processing of your application, and failure to report all schools attended may result in admission rescission or withdrawal from consideration.
If a degree has been earned at the time of application, an attested copy of the official Degree Certificate must be submitted. If the Degree Certificate is not yet available, an attested copy of the official Provisional Degree will be accepted for admission purposes only. Please note that we do not accept self-attested copies, they must be attested by your institution.
The Office of Graduate Enrollment Management and Admissions office conducts an independent, external evaluation of credentials (at no additional cost to the student). As such, there is no need to submit additional course-by-course evaluations. Please submit only the official transcripts.

The GRE requirement will be waived for applicants coming from NYU who have a 3.0 GPA and are applying for the Computer Science MS with one of the following conditions: 1) Applicants who have successfully completed the Bridge to Tandon Program. 2) Applicants who have completed nine credits of approved courses under the Visiting Student Registration Program (with an average grade of B or better). 3) Applicants who have a BA or BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from NYU (with GPA of 3.0 in major courses).
The GRE requirement will be waived for applicants to the Civil and Urban Engineering who have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from NYU.
The GRE requirement will be waived for applicants to the Financial Engineering MS who have a 3.5 GPA and have earned a BS degree in Mathematics or Computer Science from NYU.
Applicants who are applying for full-time enrollment must submit official GRE scores electronically through ETS (the NYU Tandon School of Engineering ETS institution code is 2668). The MS in Integrated Digital Media is the only exception and does not require GRE scores for full-time applicants.
Applicants who are applying for part-time enrollment in the following programs must also submit official GRE scores for admission: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Financial Engineering, and Systems Engineering.
GMAT scores may be substituted for the GRE only for applicants to the Management and Management of Technology programs. GMAT scores are valid for five years the GMAT must be taken again if your GMAT scores are older than five years at the time of application submission. You must send GMAT scores electronically by searching for the name of the institution.
If the GRE is required for your application, an official GRE score report must be sent electronically to NYU Tandon School of Engineering via the ETS institution code 2668 a departmental code is not required.
All applicants to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering for graduate study must demonstrate excellent English language skills in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension. Proficiency will be determined by the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), or Pearson PTE Academic exams. The NYU Tandon School of Engineering requires that graduate applicants achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 90 on the internet-based test, an overall band of 7.0 on IELTS, a 65 on the Pearson PTE Academics exam, or a C1 on the Cambridge English: Advanced exam.
TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE scores are valid for two years. The test must be taken again if your score is older than two years at the time of application submission.

You are required to send two letters of recommendation. Recommendations should be provided by professors, employers, supervisors, or others (no friends or relatives, please) who are able to comment on your academic achievements, research potential and your professional goals. We ask that you register your recommenders in our application system. Once registered, your recommenders will be prompted to submit their letters electronically. This method allows you to efficiently monitor and follow up with your recommenders.
International students who will require a J-1 or F-1 visa to study at NYU will need to for a new I-20 or transfer by submitting financial documentation after admission. Do not submit financial documents (including bank statements and affidavits of support) with your application. Applicants may request a waiver of English Language Proficiency Testing by submitting an form to the Office of Graduate Enrollment Management and Admissions for review. You can access the form by logging on to your application through this link.Please note that this waiver is for special cases only. If you have earned a bachelor or master degree from a US institution, you will automatically be reviewed for a waiver, you do not need to submit a waiver request. Please keep in mind that you must first application and official transcripts before a waiver request can be reviewed.
Due to the volume of applications and related materials received, the Office of Graduate Admissions will only contact you if your application was successfully submitted and is deemed incomplete because of missing required materials. All graduate programs at NYU Tandon School of Engineering are considered STEM Programs based on the government classification and are available for the STEM OPT extension. The STEM OPT extension is a 24-month period of temporary training that directly relates to an F-1 student program of study in an approved STEM field. Once your application has been submitted and all required documents have been received, it will be reviewed by the department to which you applied. When a decision is reached, you will be notified and will be able to access the decision . Applicants may request a one-time deferral of their admission only after paying the non-refundable tuition deposit. Students may request to defer their offer of admission to the next available fall or spring terms. Deferral to Summer and or multiple deferrals are not permitted. Deferrals are granted at the discretion of each academic department and the Office of Graduate Enrollment Management Admissions. Masters students must submit a deferral request using this form (login using your application credentials) and PhD students must contact their advisor to request a deferral, by the deadlines listed below. Deferral requests made via email or past the deadline will not be accepted or processed.
