Master of Microbial Biotechnology
Study Master of microbial biotechnology and management (MMB) through our balanced approach, which will allow you to concentrate on either biosciences management or entrepreneurship.
The biotechnology industry is ever-changing, increasing the demand for leaders who understand the technical side of science while developing critical business skills in finance, problem-solving, and decision making. Through the MMB MBA degree program, our students gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career in entrepreneurship or lead within an organization.
The summer after completing the MMB program, students will complete an internship and then will subsequently start MBA classes in the fall, after completing the required MBA orientation in August.
Interested MMB students can take the GMAT or use their GRE scores (taken within the last five years of applying to the MBA program) to MBA Program. Students should apply during the summer or fall of their second year in the MMB program.
Students may pursue a concentration in either Biosciences Management or Entrepreneurship. The MBA concentration that the MMB student is interested in will dictate which MBA electives the student will take while in the MMB program.
At a minimum, dual-degree MBA MMB students must complete all MBA degree requirements to include:.
Students will take the MBA core classes in their first year according to the typical Full-time MBA Schedule.
Composition of student population
Jenkins MBA
The university only accept online recommendation letters using the online application recommendation letter template. Applicant may submit the application before recommendation letter have been completed, however the Admissions Committee will not begin to review their application until at least two recommendations are complete.
If applicant choose to take the GMAT GRE applicant should list the NC State MBA program as a score recipient. If applicant have already taken the GMAT GRE, applicant will need to order a score to be sent to the MBA program. Jenkins MBA test-optional admissions policy provides candidates the option to apply without a standardized test score.
Completed applications are reviewed as they are received. Applicants can expect to receive a decision within 6-8 weeks of submitting a complete application packet.
The university Full-time MBA program uses admission rounds and the university Professional Online MBA program uses a rolling admissions schedule. For example, all who apply by the first deadline will be reviewed together in the first round. With a rolling admissions schedule, used for the university Professional Online program, applicant may application at any point as long as it is received by the final deadline.
North Carolina State University at Raleigh offers graduate assistantships on several levels to eligible students in the Full-time MBA program. Graduate assistants are required to work up to 20 hours per week during the school year for the NC State MBA Program. Recipients are eligible for a full or partial tuition waiver, a monthly stipend, and health insurance.
Students in the Full-time MBA program may not switch to the Professional Online MBA program and vice versa.
Admission to the Professional Online MBA program is granted for the fall and spring semesters. Admission to the Full-time MBA program is granted for the fall term only.

MBA classes are open only to students who are enrolled in graduate degree programs at NC State.
All students must complete a basic statistics course prior to beginning MBA coursework however, applicant do not need to complete this course prior to submitting their application if applicant are starting in the fall semester. Students who are starting in the spring semester should have completed the statistics course at the time of application
Applicants are asked their preferred concentration in the online application so that the university can plan courses for future students.
The Jenkins MBA program accepts the GMAT and GRE standardized tests. Applicant may choose to submit a standardized test score as supplemental information for the admission committee to review as part of their application.
The North Carolina State University at Raleigh will accept the GRE or the GMAT.
Interviews are by invitation and are required for admission for both the Full-time MBA and Professional Online MBA programs.

Those who have completed one year or of full-time study as a degree seeking student in a US four year institution are not required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
Analytical writing assessment score of 4.5 or higher on the GMAT.
Satisfactory communication and teamwork skills, as assessed during the admissions interview.
Five years residency in the US, working in an establishment where all activities are conducted in English.

Full-time MBA applicants may not apply for TOEFL IELTS waivers.
The university require a minimum score of 250 or 100 for the TOEFL. A minimum score of 7.5 is required for the IELTS.
There are no required language courses to take while in then Jenkins MBA program.

All applicants to the Professional Online MBA program must have at least two years of full time, post-baccalaureate professional employment.

The NC State MBA Program can accept up to 12 hours of transfer credit from another AACSB-accredited MBA program for the Professional Online MBA program, but not for the Full-time MBA program. Students must have a 3.0 GPA or higher when they left their previous program in order for transfer credits to be accepted.
The Accelerated Professional Track will allow applicant to complete their Jenkins MBA in as little as 21 months.
The Raleigh Residency is optional for active duty military students.
Professional Online MBA students do not declare a concentration.
The Professional Online MBA program is taught using asynchronous methods, with some synchronous methods.
Professional Online MBA students should not feel that they are studying in isolation.
Students in the Professional Online MBA program have the same academic support services as face-to-face part-time students.
The Professional Online MBA program requires a Virtual Orientation prior to the start of the program. Orientation also provides discussion and information on the first residency, academic policies, expectations of the program, and logistical student support.
Applicants also should expect a moderate increase in tuition and fees for each academic year. If applicant are not a North Carolina resident, but are a US citizen, their tuition and fees will most likely decrease their second year if applicant qualify for in-state residency.
