Cumberland School of Law has been a leader among American Bar Association and American Association of Law School accredited law schools in offering high quality distance education (online) law courses developed and designed by law faculty to supplement its traditional J.D. curriculum.
While the majority of course hours are completed in the classroom, its distance education (online) curriculum offers the additional flexibility for students to take classes during summers when they are away from campus engaged in law clerking jobs, internships, study abroad, as well as participating in various other summer activities outside of the Birmingham, Alabama area, or to experience unique online learning opportunities in small group environments involving specialized subject areas in the law.
Law students are currently able to take up to 15 online credit hours toward the required 90 total credit hours for the J.D. degree. Online courses are open to law students at other law schools based on seat availability.
