Coterminal master’s degree candidates are expected to complete all master’s degree requirements as described in this bulletin.

All M.A. students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better in courses applicable to the degree.

Coterminal STEP students graduate with a Master of Arts in Education and a recommendation for a preliminary California teaching credential.

The GRE is not required for STEP external or coterminal applicants.

The Ph.D. requires a minimum of 135 units of course work and research completed at Stanford beyond the baccalaureate degree. Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better in courses applicable to the degree.

Students should note that admission to the doctoral program does not constitute admission to candidacy for the degree.
