• Hannes Alfven: Worked in the Department of Electrical Engineering. He is considered the Father of modern magnetohydrodynamics. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1970.
• Geoffrey R. Burbidge: Professor of physics who is known mostly for his alternative cosmology theory, which contradicts the Big Bang theory.
• Robert F. Engle: He is a Professor of Economics. He received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics Science in 2003.

• Darwin Berg: He is a distinguished Emeritus Professor. His areas of interest include Cellular and molecular mechanisms of synapse formation, nicotinic signaling, and neural network construction.
• Gilbert Hegemier: He is a Fellow of the ASME, and in 1996, he received the Jacobs School's annual Teacher of the Year Award. Hegemier was named chair of the Department of Structural Engineering in 2007.
