Harris Public Policy
Applications must be submitted through the University’s online system. You can save your application and work on it at your convenience. Harris only accepts electronic applications.
Full-time students at Harris must matriculate in the Autumn Quarter. The MPP program consists of six core courses that are taught sequentially. If you miss the Autumn Quarter classes, you will not be prepared for Winter Quarter.
Harris Public Policy's full time master's programs will extend the optional GRE policy for all applicants—domestic and international. The policy is open to students who do not wish to share their scores and to students who are unable to take the GRE or GMAT.
A $100 nonrefundable application fee is required when you apply for a Master's degree.
English Language and Literature
Admission requirements for the PhD program in English Language and Literature at the University of Chicago:
1. Transcripts from all college-level, degree-track programs.
2. 3-4 confidential letters of recommendation.
3. A 15-20 page writing sample.
4. A statement of academic purpose.
5. The GRE scores are not required for the PhD program in English Language and Literature at the University of Chicago.
Chemistry, Ph.D. - No GRE
Ensure that all necessary documents and information are prepared and submitted according to the application requirements to facilitate a smooth application process. To apply for the PhD program in Chemistry at the University of Chicago, please follow these guidelines:
- An application fee of $90 must be submitted with your application.
- It is important to note that the UChicago Chemistry program does not require GRE scores for admission. This applies to both the general and Chemistry subject GRE tests.
- During the online application process, you will be prompted to list your faculty of interest. This step must be completed before you can submit your application.
- Transfer students from another US institution are required to provide additional documentation. Along with undergraduate transcripts and letters, transfer applicants must submit a transcript from their current graduate institution and two letters of recommendation from faculty members there. If research has already commenced, one of these letters should come from the research sponsor.
Master of Science in Analytics - No GRE/GMAT
The admission requirements for the Master of Science in Analytics program are:
- A four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Transcripts from all institutions attended after high school.
- Two letters of recommendation: It is strongly recommend that at least one letter is written by someone such as a direct manager/supervisor or internship supervisor who can attest to skills you demonstrated or gained though a professional workplace experience.

Admission Requirements for PhD in Finance:

Master's in Applied Data Science
The application requirements for entrance in the In-Person or Online Full-Time and Part-Time Masters in Data Science programs are:
- Letters of Recommendation: The MS in Applied Data Science program requires two letters of recommendation.
- Candidate Statement: The candidate statement is a key part of your application. The admissions committee pays careful attention to how you understand and present your aims and qualifications.
- Resume/CV: The Master’s in Applied Data Science admissions committee will review your resume.
- Programming Supplement: Your application contains a section on programming skills. Although applicants with limited skills in R or Python can and do get accepted into the program, the admissions committee values prior programming experience. Include a PDF of no more than two pages demonstrating current programming language skills.
- Virtual Portfolio: The MS in Applied Data Science requires short, recorded videos to a given prompt(s) within the application.
- Application Fee: There is a $90 non-refundable application fee.
