The Master of Science serves several audiences, from the professional with extensive industrial experience to the recent graduate aiming ultimately for an advanced research degree. In all cases, UMass Lowell computer science program prepares students for work environments requiring continued growth.
The Computer Science Master of Science curriculum requires that students take between 30 and 34 credits. In addition to 12 credits in core courses, students may take electives grouped into one of the following areas: 1) Human-Computer Interaction, Visualization, Robotics and AI 2) Foundations 3) Systems and Networks 4) Information Management and Analysis.
Ten graduate level courses in Computer Science, from an approved list of courses.
Four graduate level core courses in computer science and eight graduate level courses selected from five categories (Foundations, Systems Networks, Human-Computer Interaction, Visualization, Robotics AI, Information Management Analysis, Interdisciplinary and Other Approved Electives).
Students who wish to do a thesis must file a Proposed Thesis Committee form with the Graduate Coordinator prior to beginning work on the thesis.
Applicants must demonstrate courses taken or competency in the following areas:.
Official score from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
For applicants who earned their degree outside of the US, you do not need to have your transcript evaluated by a credentialing service such as WES or CED.
UMass Lowell Computer Science BS to MS Applicants.
Enrollees in this program do not need to submit GRE scores.
