Pediatric Psychology Fellowship Program

Our fellowship program offers education and training in preparation for entering professional practice as a Pediatric Psychologist meeting the requirements for competency in Clinical Child Psychology and or Clinical Health Psychology. Each year, we admit one to three new fellows. The fellowship lasts for one to two years. It is expected that our fellows will design, implement, and complete a Scholarly Activity Project during their fellowship that results in a Scholarly Activity Product. Examples include, but are not limited to:.

An extramural grant application that has either been accepted or favorably reviewed.

It is expected that fellows will identify their primary mentor and their scholarly oversight committee within the first 3 months of their fellowship training and propose their scholarly activity project idea within 6 months of fellowship training. The final work product must be successfully defended to the scholarly oversight committee by the end of fellowship. Additionally, each fellow is required to participate in a minimum of two hours a week of didactic learning experiences and to receive at least one hour per week of face-to-face clinical supervision.

All doctoral degree requirements including completion of a clinical internship are required to be admitted as a postdoctoral fellow. In addition, it is expected that fellows will obtain the Michigan Postdoctoral Education Temporary Limited License Psychologist license prior to beginning their fellowship. All candidates should be from a graduate program in clinical, counseling, neuropsychology or school psychology, approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) or Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and must be from an APA CPA-approved internship program. Experience working with children and families is required. Two years of postdoctoral training is considered optimal. In order to graduate from the program as a postdoctoral fellow and receive a certificate of completion, the fellow must complete at least 12 months in the fellowship with a Ph.D.

Our fellowship start date is typically the first work day of September. Fellowship salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines for the year that the fellow begins and based on their experience level. Fellows are entitled to University of Michigan benefits as a Research Fellow.
