The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor provides Master's programs in Movement Science and Sport Management. Movement Science students study human movement from multiple perspectives, and are taught by respected faculty members who are experts in exercise physiology, motor control and development, biomechanics, and sport-related injury prevention. To be eligible for thesis writing, students must maintain a B+ average for the first twelve credit hours of graduate work if they want to take up a thesis.

The Master of Science in Sport Management program attracts high-quality students from around the world and is led by a world-class faculty. The program offers students a unique educational experience by providing exposure to a broad range of knowledge necessary for managing the sports industry, including entrepreneurship, urban planning, finance, economics, diversity, social justice, corporate social responsibility, marketing, law, globalization, and organizational behavior. The program is suitable for individuals with a desire to learn about managing the sport enterprise, including those from various academic disciplines such as sports studies, business/management, marketing, finance/economics, health sciences, and social sciences. The program also benefits those seeking to improve their marketability in the sports industry, as well as current sport industry professionals seeking knowledge for career advancement. Students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours, including 5 core courses worth 15 credits and a selection of electives totaling at least 15 credits.

What we liked: Movement Science and Sport Management are both minimum 30-credit master's programs with in-depth knowledge of their respective fields. The movement science program offers a thesis option for students interested. The faculty for both programs are leaders in their respective fields and have a variety of specialties. No GRE is required.

Masters in Movement Science and Sport Management Admissions - No GRE

  • Three (3) letters of recommendation in support of the student's application must be submitted. These letters should ordinarily be from professors at the student's last degree-granting institution.
  • One scanned or electronic official transcript uploaded to the online application for all undergraduate and/or graduate programs in which you have received a degree. If you have not yet completed your baccalaureate degree, you may submit a current (in-progress) transcript now and a final transcript showing degree conferral upon graduation.
  • Academic Statement of Purpose which should be a concise, well-written statement about your academic preparation, practical experience, and/or research background related to the area(s) within Kinesiology that you’re interested in studying. It should also include your career goals and how Kinesiology's graduate program will help you meet your career, and educational objectives.
  • A personal statement addressing how your background and life experiences, including cultural, geographical, financial, educational, or other opportunities or challenges, have motivated your decision to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Michigan.
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required of all non-native speakers. The University of Michigan requires a minimum TOEFL score of 84 for admissions (Internet Based TOEFL), or 6.5 for IELTS
  • GRE is not required.
