MSE in Computer Information Technology

The Master of Computer and Information Technology (MCIT) program at the University of Pennsylvania is for talented students without any prior computer science experience who can start a highly successful career in computing and technology. These students often land highly sought-after interdisciplinary roles or even purely technical software development positions.

The 30-credit MCIT program was founded on the idea that individuals with undergraduate degrees in a variety of other professions might achieve great success in their careers by taking advanced computer science courses. The careers of the graduates today provide compelling evidence for this viewpoint. Graduates of MCIT programs may also choose to pursue additional advanced studies in computer science inside the academic setting.

Students majoring in Master of Science in Engineering in Computer & Information (CIS/MSE) at MCIT may apply to continue in the program. To pursue this dual degree option, students must meet certain prerequisites, including having completed most of the MCIT requirements, earning a high mark in at least one CIS elective, and having a minimum GPA.
