The Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at the Keck School of Medicine of USC has a long and successful history of training and graduating outstanding clinicians who work in a variety of medical care settings with diverse patient populations.

The Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP), offered by the Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, trains students in a range of medical, social and behavioral sciences required for competent clinical practice. Physician assistants are educated in basic medical sciences and clinical disciplines, including human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and clinical laboratory medicine. Further, PA students are taught to hone the cognitive skills required for medical decision-making.

Physician Assistant Program

The Primary Care Physician Assistant Program at USC is part of the Family Medicine in the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Successful completion of the program culminates in a Master of Physician Assistant Practice (MPAP) degree from the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

General areas of study include basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, genetics, pharmacology) cross-cultural communication health behavior clinical skills including patient interviewing, history-taking, written documentation, all components of physical assessment laboratory and radiological principles nutrition principles of primary care, including prevention and patient education medical Spanish interpretation of medical literature professional development and specialty seminars in research, education and medical care organizations. Additionally, students participate in clinical training in the areas of family medicine, pediatrics, women’s health, general surgery, general orthopedics occupational medicine, medicine (internal medicine, geriatrics), behavioral and mental health, and emergency medicine. The curriculum consists of -months of didactic and clinical training. The educational process consists of a total of 4 semesters of didactic (classroom-based) instruction and 54 full-time equivalent weeks of on-site clinical education.

Students who have demonstrated academic progress by successfully completing all of their coursework will be eligible to complete all PA Program requirements and graduate in May of their final year (Year 3).

Clinical Performance Examination (CPX): A summative evaluation, using standardized clinical cases, is completed during the final semester to assess each student’s preparedness to graduate.

Primary Care Physician Assistant Program Tuition and Fees.

The PA Program is a -month academic program. There are no out-of-state resident fees. This quote does not include university mandatory fees, university student health fees, PA Program books and supplies, or living expenses. Program tuition is subject to change, and typically updated annually.

A non-refundable enrollment commitment deposit of $500 (credited toward the first semester’s tuition) is required at the time a selected applicant accepts a position in the class.

The university reserves the right to change without notice, any of the tuition and or fees listed. Fees do not include medical equipment, textbooks, or living expenses.
