With funding from the Professional Development Grant, the Peer Mentoring Program will provide lunch vouchers during Spring 2017 to encourage continued meetings between mentors and mentees in a semester that sees an increase in responsibility and a drop-off in early support mechanisms for first-year students. In order to launch an effective longitudinal program we are applying for the 2017 Professional Development Grant as partial funding for the major events in the first year of the initiative. This proposal seeks funding for a series of writing workshops aimed at graduate students who are non-native speaker of English (English as a Second Language - ESL) in the humanities and social sciences at Duke University.
