Graduates of the M.S. in Sports Administration program may assume supervisory and administrative positions in a variety of settings, including public recreation systems, voluntary agencies, facility and event management, community-based athletic programs, college athletic administration, and professional sports organizations. The program is jointly administered through the kinesiology department and the Graduate School. In this 39-credit interdisciplinary program, students take graduate coursework through the kinesiology department and other programs in the Graduate School, including education, psychology, communication, and liberal studies. Students in the program complete six credits of University requirements intended to distinguish the degree as uniquely Valpo.

The program involves an in depth study of the methods, theory, approaches and evaluation strategies to health education programs for those that are already working in the field but do not have advanced academic preparation as well as those planning to enter related health fields. All coursework must be approved by the program director. Students must choose the certificate option prior to completing coursework and may not retroactively choose the certificate option based on unsatisfactory progress in the Health Promotion and Wellness Management Master’s Degree option.

The Strength and Conditioning concentration was designed for current practitioners, aspiring strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers and athletic performance coaches.
