The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice with a track in Homeland Security features 15-credits of online coursework that will prepare students for leadership roles preventing terrorism, reducing vulnerability in the communities, mitigating the threat of damage, and recovering from attacks and natural disasters. Students in this 30-credit program will also take 15 credits of criminal justice courses in a traditional classroom setting which will provide a balanced perspective on the study and practices of the criminal justice system with core competencies in areas including intelligence analysis, strategic planning, and comprehensive anti-terror strategies.

Monmouth University is a partner to the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and has based our curriculum on their nationally recognized program. We also participate in the University and Agency Partnership Initiative, giving you access to the Homeland Security Digital Library (HSDL), a national collection of documents related to homeland security policy, strategy and organizational management.

The Master of Science in Cyber and land Security Administration (MSCHSA) is a 36-credit graduate program that focuses on the practical and theoretical aspects of enforcing and ensuring cyber and land security. There is also a strong emphasis on leadership throughout the program.

All students will be required to complete four (4) mandatory courses: land Security and Constitutional Issues Research and Policy Analysis Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism Awareness and Strategic Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation with a thesis, as well as eight (8) electives. The program focuses on practical and theoretical aspects of enforcing and ensuring land security and includes areas of specialization. Certain areas of specialization have additional course requirements.

Students are required to take eight (8) electives. Students may specialize in one of two concentration areas by taking six of the eight electives in one concentration. Concentrations are not required, and any eight electives may be taken.

CHSA 6607 Border Security: Policies, Actions, and Implications.

This 18-credit, 6-course certificate focuses on terrorism and security studies. The Post-911 world has made many sectors of the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors involved in preventing and combating terrorism as they try to ensure a safe and secure nation. The knowledge provides both historical and current information to add to the knowledge of various threats posed by terrorist organizations, whether domestic or international, and to provide organizations to prepare for the risks associated with such activities.

This 18-credit, 6-course certificate focuses on the critical area of leadership in land security. Leadership is essential for successfully carrying out programs or tasks.

This is a hypothetical timeline that shows how a student can complete the Master of Science in land Security degree program at Thomas Edison State University in 18 months.

To demonstrate how you could progress through the program over an 18-month period, we are using the January term as your first term and move through the program during the four graduate terms offered each year. Each term is 8 weeks.
