This supplement to the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Training Program at USF, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) allows one MSW student to have an enriched educational experience by participating fully in the MCH training program.

Social work is an essential component of public health. The combination of degrees in public health and social work equip graduate students to prepare for careers in both social work and public health settings with the ability to fill clinical, administrative, policy and evaluative roles which positively affects the lives of individuals, families and communities. Training in public health enriches the social work educational experience by providing students with the methodological tools of public health, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, and health policy and management. Nearly half of all students enrolled in the MSW program express a career interest in health and or mental health.

The University of North Florida (UNF) Master of Social Work (MSW) program fosters a commitment to creating social change through a holistic practice of social work that emphasizes the attainment of biopsychosocial-economic and spiritual wellbeing, especially among people who experience systematic marginalization and oppression. The UNF MSW Program offers both Traditional and Advanced Standing tracks. The Traditional track is designed for students who do not have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree.The Traditional Programof Study begins in the fall semester and may be completed full-time in two years or part-time in four years.The Advanced Standing trackis designed for students who have a BSW degree and are academically prepared for accelerated graduate study. The Advanced Standing Program of Study begins during the summer semester and may be completed in one academic year. MSW courses are offered face-to-face on the UNF campus during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Of social work education. Traditional MSW students are required to complete 900 hours of field education, including 400 hours at the generalist practice level and 500 hours at the advanced generalist level. Advanced Standing students must complete 500 hours of field education at the advanced generalist level. information field policies and procedures may be found in the MSW Field Manual.

The MSW Program utilizes multiple measures to assess the degree to which students master the core competencies of generalist and advanced generalist social work practice as well as the quality of the learning environment in which the program of study is delivered. The Master of Social Work (MSW) program offers students who are physically living in the states of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia an innovative, full-time online program.

Our MSW program offers multiple cohort tracks which include fulltime and part time Advanced Standing Tracks and a Two Year and Three Year Track.

Online students can count on receiving excellent academics as well as opportunities for hands-on learning.

Taking online classes has afforded me the opportunity to learn while maintaining a job. They give me some flexibility to study at times that work cohesively with my schedule and allow me to utilize resources such as the library 24 hours a day.

You may also choose to pursue your degree through one of our education centers, which merge a traditional in-person education with the flexibility to match your lifestyle. Education centers offer eight-week academic terms as well as evening and weekend classes.

Graduates from the program may be able to begin the licensure process in their state for their LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or state equivalent. Students are encouraged to research and confirm the licensing requirements for their state.

Our MSW degree graduates are prepared to be leaders in advanced clinical social work practice with a specialization in Trauma-informed care within populations related to children and adolescents, first responders, the military, and the multitude of vulnerable populations served by the profession of Social Work.

These materials must be submitted in order for the applicant to be considered for admission for the summer semester. Students will be admitted to the two-year MSW program during the summer semester of each year. Note that only elective courses will be offered during the summer semester, core courses will begin in the fall semester. All admitted students are required to attend an orientation held during the fall immediately prior to classes beginning. In addition, students planning to enroll full-time must plan to be available during the summer months for the field placement search process.

The Social Work has formal policies and procedures concerning the transfer of credit from other accredited colleges and universities, including the transfer of credit from other Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited schools and departments of social work. A student who has previously earned graduate level credit from a Master of Social Work program accredited by the CSWE may submit their transcript as part of the application process. These determination of elective credit will be made after the student has been admitted to the program. Students may also be asked to provide details regarding course content and examples of written work if available. Credit is not given for life experiences.

The MSW curriculum follows a specific course rotation. Core courses are offered in designated semesters only. Students enrolled in the traditional program (60 hours) must complete the foundation curriculum prior to progressing to the clinical curriculum. Advanced standing (30 hours) students complete the clinical curriculum only. All course work must be completed within a five-year period.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

Students will receive a Graduate Assistant Matriculation Fee Waiver at 50% of the tuition fee only. The waiver is based on the current graduate tuition rate per graduate credit hour for the semester during which the student is a graduate assistant working a minimum of 10 hours per week.

To qualify as a Graduate Assistant, students must be fully admitted to one of the Social Work graduate programs and registered for at least 6 semester hours of graduate course work fall and spring (3 semester hours summer).

Field instruction is an integral part of the academic preparation of MSW students. The MSW program mission, goals, and objectives provide the framework for the design and implementation of the field instruction curriculum.
