The Social Work has formal policies and procedures concerning the transfer of credit from other accredited colleges and universities, including the transfer of credit from other Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited schools and departments of social work. A student who has previously earned graduate level credit from a Master of Social Work program accredited by the CSWE may submit their transcript as part of the application process. These determination of elective credit will be made after the student has been admitted to the program. The options for careers in Social Work continue to expand.

Submission of one of the following graduate admission tests:.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Verbal and Quantitative score.

Submission of a personal statement using the required Social Work Personal Statement Form.

Submission of the Master of Social Work Field Practicum Form (searchable in myUWF).

The graduate admission test will be waived for the following:.

Must have earned their BSW from a CSWE accredited program within the past 7 years.

The MSW curriculum follows a specific course rotation. Core courses are offered in designated semesters only. Students enrolled in the traditional program (60 hours) must complete the foundation curriculum prior to progressing to the clinical curriculum. Advanced standing (30 hours) students complete the clinical curriculum only. All course work must be completed within a five-year period.

SOW 5757 History, Philosophy, and Theory of Social Work.

SOW 5105 Human Behavior in the Social Environment.

SOW 5629 MSW Human Diversity and Social Justice.

Students enrolled in the advanced standing program must complete two elective course offerings. Students enrolled in the traditional program are required to complete three elective course offerings. Electives are offered every semester and can be taken at any point in the course rotation.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

A sample of featured courses you will take in the Social Work program.

Students will receive a Graduate Assistant Matriculation Fee Waiver at 50% of the tuition fee only. The waiver is based on the current graduate tuition rate per graduate credit hour for the semester during which the student is a graduate assistant working a minimum of 10 hours per week.

To qualify as a Graduate Assistant, students must be fully admitted to one of the Social Work graduate programs and registered for at least 6 semester hours of graduate course work fall and spring (3 semester hours summer).

Field instruction is an integral part of the academic preparation of MSW students. The MSW program mission, goals, and objectives provide the framework for the design and implementation of the field instruction curriculum. The field instruction component of the curriculum provides students with the opportunity to put their classroom learning into practice while under close professional supervision.
