The Master of Social Work is a 60-credit degree that can be earned in two, three, or four years. The MSW program prepares students to become licensed in any state to practice social work as a MSW graduate. our main campus in Balti City and an off-campus program at The Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville, Maryland.
MSW Program at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) At USG, we offer the complete MSW degree program for students interested in the Clinical Concentration. Students in this concentration will develop assessment and intervention skills to work with families, youth, and adults in mental health, health care, substance abuse, child welfare, and educational settings.
One of the distinctive components of the MSW program is the field placement experience where students practice and refine skills learned in class. For MSW students at USG, field placement opportunities are available in Montgomery, Prince George and Frederick Counties, and the District of Columbia.
Applying to the MSW Program at USG Students applying for the USG program can start in the Spring semester (part-time) or in the Fall semester (full-time or part-time). Applications are submitted online from September through the March deadline. Applicants with a BSW degree can apply for Advanced Standing for the fall (full-time or part-time) or spring (part-time) semester at USG. The admissions criteria and deadlines are the same for students applying to take classes at the USG and Balti campuses.

Salisbury University has five locations throughout Maryland to earn your degree! We offer our M.S.W. Program at our main campus in Salisbury and at our four satellite sites in Maryland. Our campus locations are designed in a hybrid format so students are only on campus one-two evenings per week with classes beginning at 5 p.m. Salisbury University also offers a completely Online M.S.W. Program option.
Our Online Program is mostly asynchronous with a few synchronous sessions available for Traditional M.S.W. Program students. Advanced Standing students begin in the specialized curriculum and their courses are designed in a completely asynchronous format.
Currently, we offer our Program in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Washington, D.C. Our Online Program is billed as the same rate as a Maryland resident regardless of your location.

Traditional Program students complete two years of field practicum in two different settings Advanced Standing Program students complete a one-year practicum in one setting.
SU works in collaboration with the University of Maryland School of Social Work to provide a limited number of stipends for the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program.
Each year, SU offers a number of competitive graduate assistantships for students attending the SU campus. Information may be obtained from the School of Social Work. Required forms and documents should be returned to the School of Social Work as early as possible preceding the academic year or semester for which the appointment is sought. All graduate assistants will be eligible to receive a salary and tuition waiver. Graduate assistants must enroll for a minimum of six credits, but no than nine per semester will be covered by the tuition waiver. The waiver of tuition does not include waiver of fees.
