The Master of Arts in Theatre Education MATE degree program is one of five graduate theatre programs offered by the Department of Drama. The MATE degree program is the only one of its kind in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Designed to specifically accommodate the schedules of working professionals, all classes are offered in the evenings year round.

This entire degree may be earned completely via online courses. Students meet with the instructor and classmates via video conferencing and submit all assignments electronically.

The MATE program accepts applications year round. It is possible to start in the Fall, Spring, or Summer.

The TWU Master of Arts in Theatre online-hybrid option is designed for Texas residents who are unable to attend traditional face-to-face courses while they earn college credit towards their Master of Arts in Theatre degree.

At least 51% of the total institutional degree is offered by distance learning methods. Some courses are presented in traditional, face-to-face sessions. Other courses combine face-to-face class meetings with regular online communication. Still, other courses are completely online while some are administered through independent study with a Theatre Program faculty member. Courses offered as hybrid classes will require 3-6 campus meetings per class.

Classes are offered in the Redbud Theater Complex in Hubbard Hall on the TWU Denton campus and online. The TWU Master of Arts degree plan requires 36 semester credit hours for successful completion.

Students who complete our level-one camps that provide an introduction to acting may return for our level-two camps that build upon these skills.

NYFA currently offers in-person, on-campus summer camps and weekend acting camps, as well as online programs.

By combining interactive classes with direct, hands-on acting in front of the camera, students can gain experience in acting, while building additional skills in presentation, articulation, public speaking, and creative collaboration.
