Designed for the online space, the online master of architecture (M.Arch.) program track is shaping the next generation of architects to lead the future of sustainable architecture.

Sustainable architecture is a vital component in planning the communities of tomorrow: It requires less land development, uses environmentally friendly materials, and is energy efficient. Through the online M.Arch. program, students learn to design buildings with people, space, and the environment in mind.

Experience in architecture. The curriculum consists of core courses, electives, studio time, a professional co-op, in-person immersions, a global experience, and a thesis project.

This pathway can be completed in 44 months and is designed for those with limited educational background in design or architecture.

We have transformed our program so that students have the flexibility of attending weekly classes and completing course work online, while also participating in the traditional hands-on experiences necessary for an architecture program.

You will complete a professional co-op in your community where you will work with local architectural and design firms, apply your newly learned skills, and gain experience for your resume.

You will spend up to 10 days studying the intricacies of culture, design, and architecture in a foreign city. Some global experiences can be completed for elective credit.

The online M.Arch. program track holds the same high standard for excellence as our on-campus program track.

During the first year of the Standard pathway, you will develop an understanding of the basics of architecture in foundation courses. After completing foundation courses, you will take a in-depth look at architecture, exploring topics such as architectural theory, integrated building systems, urban planning, and industrial ecology.

The Advanced Standing M.Arch. is 78 credits and can be completed in 32 months. This pathway is for students who have a bachelor degree in architecture or a related field.

You will follow a curriculum similar to that of the Standard pathway, but will skip the first year of foundational course work and dive right into in-depth topics such as integrated building systems, urban planning, and industrial ecology.

Numerous courses in the architecture curriculum require students to purchase supplies for use in class. Please review the List for required supplies prior to starting the Master of Architecture program.
