The graduate curriculum in the history of art at Princeton University is one of the oldest in the country, and for many decades the department has played a leading role in training teachers, scholars, and curators in this area. Before proposing a specialized topic for dissertation research, all doctoral students must first demonstrate their broad competence in philosophy and education by successfully completing the program certification process. The exam will feature one broad question focusing upon a contemporary educational issue or problem, and you will be asked to address it by drawing upon your understanding of these core texts. Established in 1991, Cornell’s Department and Graduate Field of Science Technology Studies were formed from two previously independent Programs: Science, Technology and Society (STS) and History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (HPST).
