During their first year, students in the Interdisciplinary Biological Sciences program (IBiS) andthe Driskill Graduate Program in Life Sciences (DGP) explore research areas through courses and lab rotations. Once settled in a thesis lab, students select a research cluster at the beginning of their second year.
Students will participate in cluster programs during the remainder of their Northwestern experience.

Georgetown University in partnership with George Mason University offers a postbaccalaureate, graduate-level Advanced Biomedical Sciences Certificate program for individuals interested in careers in the health professions.
This is a full-time, 9-month, 20-credit graduate certificate program which provides excellent advanced science preparation for health professions including medical, dental and other healthcare-related advanced studies. The program includes preparation for professional examinations (such as MCAT, DAT, or GRE), and outstanding advising and support towards your goals. The graduate certificate program follows a traditional semester system. Courses are taken concurrently and the program begins in late August. There is a winter break that runs from mid-December through mid-January. The program generally is completed by mid-May.
For eligible students who choose to complete an M.S. degree at Georgetown University during the summer, their summer studies generally begin in the second week of June.

GSBS and The Tufts Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute offer two certificates, an in-person Clinical and Translational Sciences Certificate and an online Health Economics and Outcomes Research Certificate. Both programs are part-time, and designed for individuals who seek specialized training outside the commitment of a degree program.
Individuals who are interested in taking a class without being enrolled in a degree program may take certain courses as a non-degree student. GSBS has a selection of courses available each term some courses may even be transferrable into a future degree program at our school or elsewhere (conditions apply). Prospective students complete a simple registration process through a single, university-wide online platform.

Graduate Medical Sciences (GMS) at Boston University Chobanian Avedisian School of Medicine is a recognized leader in research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences. Boston University Chobanian Avedisian School of Medicine began as the New England Female Medical College in 1848.
