The Pre-Medical Health Sciences Certificate Program is a one-year centralized pre-medical or pre-health sciences program administered by the VCU School of Medicine. It offers the opportunity for graduate level training to students seeking to enhance their background in basic science disciplines such as physiology prior to entering professional school. The curriculum is an intensive program of study intended for completion in two consecutive academic semesters. Students who complete the Certificate Program will also be well prepared to pursue a Master of Science in Physiology or in any of the other Basic Science Departments in the School of Medicine.
The M.S. degree program includes a first year comprising mainly didactic course work and a second year largely devoted to the completion of an independent research project in a chosen lab. Many applicants who are admitted to this master’s program have successfully completed VCU’s Certificate in Pre-medical Graduate Health Sciences.
