The online M.Ed. in human development counseling with a specialization in school counseling is a 48-credit-hour program and can be completed in three years.

Live classes are held weekly, Monday through Thursday, and are mandatory. Classes may begin as early as 4 p.m. CT.

Students must attend two on-campus immersions and are required to complete three internships. These internships will take place during school hours and require extensive training. Because of this, students will not be able to work at another job full time during regular weekday hours while completing their internships. The hybrid program has online asynchronous and synchronous classes during the school year and in-person classes during the Summer Institute in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania or in an international location. Pennsylvania certification can be transferred to other states with or without additional requirements. Practical experience is an important part of the degree with students expected to complete a minimum of 100 hours of fieldwork. The culminating experience is two semesters of an internship of 15-20 hours a week. The internship must be completed at a school outside of the US.
