The certificate is also designed for professionals who would not benefit from research skills or do not want to complete the thesis or comprehensive exams required by the master program. The certificate requires the completion of four, three-credit courses with a grade of B or better in three years or less. The certificate courses are also offered at a reduced tuition rate. While a 3.0 GPA is required for the graduate program, applicants whose GPA falls slightly below that requirement will still be considered for the certificate program. Each track has different course requirements that are provided here and in the Graduate Handbook. Both tracks are non-thesis tracks, not requiring the writing of a Master’s thesis. Master’s Degree with a Certificate in Global Justice and Security Track. The Certificate Option is available only to students who have been admitted and have enrolled in Washington State University CRMJ MA program. In order to receive the Certificate, students will have to successfully complete ten courses in the CRMJ MA program. To enroll in the Certificate Program, students in the CRMJ MA program have to notify the Graduate Studies Committee in the Department that they wish to pursue the Certificate option. The Graduate Studies Committee will decide whether to accept the student into the Certificate program or not and will notify the student of its decision. Being denied admission to the Certificate option does not prevent the student from receiving an MA upon successful conclusion of the required courses for the conventional MA track.
