Best Disability Studies graduate certificate programs - Updated 2020

This cohort-based program offers teachers who are currently certified as a teacher of students with mild moderate disabilities an extension of their skills to the skills, knowledge and perspectives they need to effectively support students with severe and complex disabilities. It provides an accelerated path to teacher certification in Severe Intellectual Disabilities. The certificate includes the following courses:ELSP 701: Fundamentals of Bilingual Special Education: Policies, Laws, and PracticeELSP 702: Removing Barriers for Classroom Assessment and Instruction of Bilingual StudentsELSP 703: Assessment for Equity and Inclusion of Bilingual Students with and without Disabilities ELSP 704: Culturally Responsive Individualized Educational Planning for Bilingual Students with Disabilities. The College of Health and Human Services, Social Work at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and the New Hampshire Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NH-LEND) training program at the Institute on Disability co­sponsor the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Graduate Certificate program.

The College of Health and Human Services, Social Work at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and the New Hampshire Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (NH-LEND) training program at the Institute on Disability co­sponsor the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Graduate Certificate program. Electives with a focus on Developmental Disabilities may be accepted upon approval from the Graduate Certificate Coordinator. All coursework for the certificate must be completed within three years. Students who successfully complete the program will receive an official student certificate from the University of New Hampshire Graduate School. Courses completed during the certificate program may be applied toward degree requirements upon the approval of the appropriate graduate program coordinator and the Graduate School.
