This cohort-based program offers teachers who are currently certified as a teacher of students with mild moderate disabilities an extension of their skills to the skills, knowledge and perspectives they need to effectively support students with severe and complex disabilities. It provides an accelerated path to teacher certification in Severe Intellectual Disabilities. Certificate courses that are taken for academic credit may be combined to earn advanced standing in one of Lasell M.Ed. programs. The ELL SPED Certificate is offered 100% online. Lasell classes offer either PDP or academic credit. You choose the format best for you. The needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities extend beyond the boundaries of any one discipline. Therefore, Disability Studies program emphasizes an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to providing holistic, family-centered services to children and families. This 12­ credit­ hour interdisciplinary program is designed to focus on the development of advocacy and practice skills for professional work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Electives with a focus on Developmental Disabilities may be accepted upon approval from the Graduate Certificate Coordinator. This includes but not limited to HDFS 897, EDUC 856, OT 890, OT 862, SW 860, EDUC 850, SW 851, SW 813. All coursework for the certificate must be completed within three years. Courses completed during the certificate program may be applied toward degree requirements upon the approval of the appropriate graduate program coordinator and the Graduate School. Tuition is equal to the rates for resident graduate degree students. Tuition for non­resident students will be 10 percent above the resident rate.
