The Master of Science in Financial Economics is a two-year STEM eligible master’s degree program offered by the Finance Division of Columbia Business School. The program provides academically distinguished and industry-oriented students the opportunity to obtain a rigorous, graduate-level finance acumen. MSFE students take a carefully constructed curriculum of PhD and MBA courses offered at Columbia Business School. While the program has significant overlap with the PhD program in Finance, it is intended for students who prefer a shorter and more industry-oriented experience than the School’s doctoral program.

The Finance doctoral program provides students with rigorous training in finance, economics, mathematics and statistics. These tools, plus opportunities for supervised independent research, enable students to make their own contributions to the understanding of financial markets and institutions that lead to productive research careers. The Finance doctoral program trains students to apply empirical methods and theoretical tools to advance our understanding of how financial markets and institutions work, and how they may contribute to economic development.
