Graduate Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering The Citadel Charleston, SC. Graduate Certificate in Built Environment and Public Health. The Graduate Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering focuses on applied advanced engineering skills needed by todays practicing geotechnical engineer. The courses are design focused for immediate transference to design applications in the United States. Successful applicants must meet the following criteria for admission into the Geotechnical Engineering Graduate Certificate program. Students who have been admitted to the MSCE with a geotechnical focus need to for the Geotechnical Engineering Graduate Certificate program (application fee will not be required for those already admitted to the MSCE program). All material must be received by The Citadel Graduate College office and evaluated by the department to receive consideration to the Geotechnical Engineering Graduate Certificate program. Students are required to complete 12 hours of graduate study within a three-year period from the time of registration in their first civil engineering graduate course at The Citadel.

Courses that are part of certificate programs include a required assessment. Passing criteria is determined by the instructor and is provided to learners at the start of the course. GTPE certificates of program completion consist of a prescribed number of required and elective courses offered and completed at Georgia Tech within a consecutive six-year period. Exceptions, such as requests for substitutions or credit for prior education, can be requested through the petition form. Exceptions cannot be guaranteed. Construction Safety and Health Certificate Program (Atlanta campus courses only). Project Management Certificate Program (Atlanta campus courses only). Safety and Health Management Certificate Program (Atlanta campus courses only). GTPE does not issue transcripts or certificates with Professional Develop Hours (PDH) or Professional Development Units (PDU), but the crosswalk here is provided for reference. Upon successful completion of most GTPE courses (80% minimum attendance and a passing grade in courses that require an assessment), you may receive a certificate indicating the number of CEUs earned. Certificate issuance exceptions include courses with outstanding credentialing entities (i.e. OSHA or PADI). For an audit of your transcript for progress toward completion of a certificate, please complete the transcript request form. GTPE courses do not provide academic or degree credit. Georgia Tech academic or degree credit is only available to matriculated students taking courses that meet degree requirements.

The certificate program in geoenvironmental engineering is designed to provide the necessary background for civil engineers to practice in the field of geoenvironmental engineering. The program will offer an in-depth understanding of the issues that a geoenvironmental engineer may encounter in practice. Upon completion of the certificate program in geoenvironmental engineering, students will be able to design, analyze, and evaluate systems in geoenvironmental engineering. Students will be learn to understand soil mineralogy, clay—water—electrolyte systems, soil composition, fabric, structure, volume change behavior, permeability, coupled phenomena, and in-situ evaluation of soil behavior. Students will also learn hazardous waste regulations, including RCRA and Superfund. Students will be able to analyze sites for transport and fate of hazardous substances, including elements of environmental toxicology, risk assessment, and hazard ranking, as well as monitoring, data collection, and evaluation. Finally, students will learn to design engineered processes for waste minimization, and containment systems for waste disposal and remediation. To obtain the certificate in geoenvironmental engineering, students must complete a total of four courses, including three required courses and one elective course.

Program Description:This certificate program is designed to provide formalized engineering education to practitioners in geology, geological engineering, mining engineering and geotechnical engineering. Students will be able to take lower-level deficiency courses (prerequisites) online where available, but these will not count toward the certificate. In some cases, 3000 and 4000 level courses may be substituted for the courses listed above, if approved by the program coordinator. Students must have an average cumulative grade of 3.0 (B-grade) or better in the four certificate courses, and complete the requirements in 3 years or less to obtain their certificate. Students who successfully complete the certificate program will automatically be admitted to the Master of Engineering in Geotechnics. The certificate courses will be counted toward the ME degree and no GRE score will be required for admission. (Prerequisites may be waived on a case-by-case basis by the course instructors.) A GRE score is not required for admittance into the certificate program. Students applying for a business project management graduate certificate will need the following:. Complete the Online Application. When you start your application select Graduate Online Distance and then select which certificate you are applying for. Don't forget to list your current employer and company location on the application. Effective July 1, 2011, the Education requires that all certificate programs must disclose particular Gainful Employment information to current and prospective students. The information that is provided in the disclosure includes the estimated cost of the certificate program as well as on-time graduation and job placement rates for this particular certificate program. The disclosure information is based on data from the school year(defined as the period between July 1, 2017, and June 30, 2018). Graduate certificates were designed as a gateway to a master’s degree. If a student earns a B or better in each certificate course they may continue for the graduate degree (in the corresponding department), without needing to submit GRE GMAT scores, or letters of recommendation.
