Applications for global-health related thesis funding (for both GHP certificate and non-certificate students) are now closed. Juniors enrolled in the GHP certificate program may apply for for global health-related summer senior thesis research through the GHP Summer Thesis Research Funding opportunity in the Princeton SAFE system, starting in late February. Juniors not enrolled in the GHP certificate program may apply for GHP for global health-related summer thesis research through the Global Health Non-Certificate Summer Thesis Research Funding opportunity in SAFE, starting in late February. Awards for non-certificate student thesis research may range up to $1,000 but are contingent on available funds.

This track is suitable for dentists seeking to obtain a master’s degree and DPH certificate in order to take the specialty board exam. Dentists in this track obtain the DPH certificate and are qualified to take the specialty board exam. Certificate Program: This is a two-year program for dentists with an accredited master’s degree in public health (MPH) or equivalent degree. MPH and Certificate Program: This track requires applications to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health for the MPH degree program and to the Harvard School of Dental Medicine for the DPH certificate. Program Candidates for the dental public health DMSc, MMSc, or Certificate programs must hold a DDS, DMD, or MD degree or the equivalent, such as a BDS. The second year for MMSc (third year for DMSc) and the first year for Certificate candidates consist of a supervised residency emphasizing experiences at the community, state, or national level in health policy and program administration. The third year (fourth for DMSc and second for Certificate) is a continuation of the residency and emphasizes research in public health at HSDM linking with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, The Forsyth Institute, and other departments of Harvard University.

The Certificate programs form an integral part of the two-year Columbia MPH experience and provide students with advanced training in a focused area of public health beyond the departmental discipline. Certificates lead to a Columbia University approved credential. All students enrolled in the two-year Columbia MPH are required to fulfill the course requirements of their Certificate program in addition to Core and Departmental requirements to graduate. The 20 available certificate programs have been developed in consultation with public health employers and other key stakeholders and reflect today’s most sought-after knowledge and skillsets. Many Certificates focus on interdisciplinary topics such as global health, chronic disease, or aging, while some offer an advanced training in one particular area such as biostatistics or research methods. Most Certificate-related coursework takes place from the second to fourth semesters. However, some certificate-specific, non-credit sessions and special events are held during the first and second semesters. The Duke Global Health Institute offers a Master of Science in Global Health (M.Sc.-G.H.) and an interdisciplinary Certificate in Global Health. The Global Health Certificate program addresses the needs of students preparing for careers related to global health by providing students with the interdisciplinary skills and tools both to synthesize current knowledge in new ways as well as to formulate innovative solutions to achieve improvement in the quality of health for underserved populations. The public health informatics certificate program is primarily designed for public health professionals who already have advanced training in the field and wish to gain further insight into this emerging discipline. The certificate program, created for non-degree-seeking students, focuses on technical courses in the curriculum rather than on general public health core courses. Public health informatics certificate application materials must be submitted to Rollins' Office of Admissions and Student Services on the first floor of the Grace Crum Rollins Building. No Public Health Informatics Certificate fellowships scholarships or other financial assistance programs are available to public health informatics students. Acceptance into the certificate program does not guarantee acceptance into the degree-seeking category. Public Health Informatics Certificate students who decide to as degree-seeking candidates must complete and are bound by the same application admission process as other Rollins degree-seeking applicants. If a Public Health Informatics Certificate student decides to for a degree program at Rollins and is accepted as a degree-seeking candidate, up to nine (9) credits taken as a certificate student may be transferred to the degree-seeking status.
