Clinical and health psychology are related, yet distinct. The Doctoral Program in Social and Health Psychology offers courses and research training leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. This program is a good choice for students who are interested in a research career in social psychology, health psychology, or the interface between these two disciplines (e.g., application of social psychology theory to health problems). Social psychology focuses on topics such as social comparison processes, social support processes, prejudice and racism, stereotyping, the representation and processing of social experience, social cognition, and social neuroscience. Health psychology focuses on identifying, evaluating, and enhancing the psychosocial and behavioral factors that promote health, prevent disease, or affect adjustment to disease.

The internship program emphasizes training in brief, time-limited therapy and multicultural competency within an integrationist framework. We provide intensive supervision, multifaceted didactic training, professional mentorship, and a broad range of outreach and consultation opportunities. Through achievement of profession-wide competencies, the Psychology Intern will enhance their skills in brief, time-limited individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, intake assessment, consultation, program evaluation, and outreach. We are the primary training site for doctoral students in the University of Oregon clinical psychology program. Services are provided by advanced graduate students under the supervision of licensed psychologists.

The CSU Health Network (CSUHN) Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology (formerly Professional Psychology) has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1973. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking related information from any intern applicant.
