The Graduate Portfolio Certificate in Women and Gender Studies is an additional credential available to current graduate students at the University of Texas at Austin, along with their Masters or Doctoral degree. After completing requirements for the portfolio and graduation, the student official university transcript will read, Portfolio in Women Gender Studies. A printed certificate from the Center is also available upon request. The Graduate Portfolio Certificate Program in Women and Gender Studies builds upon the Center’s rich and broad-based expertise across disciplines and schools colleges. Students currently admitted to a degree program as well as those who are non-degree seeking are eligible to earn a certificate. Students may complete the certificate independently of their field of study. NOTE: Anyone interested in earning the certificate must for admission through the Graduate School. The application process and admission to the Program must be complete by the end of the first week of the semester in which the first course is taken. A total of 15 hours of credit must be earned to qualify for the certificate. To fulfill the certificate requirements, a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum grade of B minus have to be attained for any course that is to be applied to the certificate. All courses must be taken for a letter grade. NOTE: The certificate cannot be posted to your transcript until a completed SLS ESL Certificate Program Audit Form (available from the English Department Graduate Office) is submitted to the English Department Graduate Office. A maximum of six (6) hours of coursework taken at Purdue prior to admission to the Program may be counted toward completion of the certificate. In all three circumstances, the course s must have been completed within five years prior to the awarding of the certificate and a grade of B minus or above must have been earned. Courses may be applied for credit toward the completion of than one certificate. Maximum time allowed for completion of the certificate is 5 years.
