The online Certificate in Neuroscience allows you to explore biological, psychological, and clinical approaches to understand the nervous system as the biological basis of behavior. You will learn to apply studies in neurochemistry, neuroendocrinology, and pharmacology to gain deeper insight into behavior, focusing on areas including perception, social behavior, mental health, and the effect of drugs on the function of the central nervous system.
The Certificate in Neuroscience is a 4-course, 4 c.u.* credit program of study. To earn a certificate, students first complete NEUR 100: Introduction to Neuroscience, followed by any three neuroscience courses. Students who complete the basic online certificate may pursue an advanced certificate (6-course, 6 c.u.) by adding two additional neuroscience courses.

The Cluster for Cognitive Neuroscience focuses on research concerning all aspects of human cognition from a neuroscience perspective.
Participants have come from many different departments and programs, including Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Psychiatry, Neurology, Physiology, Music, Linguistics, Medical Social Sciences, NUIN, and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. The Cognitive Neuroscience Program sponsors many events to support our community. In particular, we host weekly meetings of the Cognitive Brain Mapping Group (CBMG), which meets by videoconference between the Chicago and Evanston campuses.
We have an annual graduate-level course, Mind and Brain, initiated in direct response to the cluster initiative (Cognitive Science 401). In addition, we also sponsor the Cognitive Neuroscience Data Blitz, which brings most of the community together annually, alternating locations between the two campuses. We also sponsor talks from visiting speakers each year.

We fund a select group of trainees through NIH NINDS T32 funding for the Training Program in the Neuroscience of Human Cognition and through TGS funding for affiliate trainees. This funding covers annual stipends and tuition, with some money for conference travel and other research expenses. Applications are solicited each spring for these funding slots, which are competitively evaluated, and are generally awarded to advanced students who have already zeroed in on their dissertation research.

The Rackham Graduate Certificate in Computational Neuroscience is U-M’s response to the increasing prevalence and need for quantitatively trained researchers in neuroscience. The Certificate will be administered jointly by the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) and the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering (MICDE).
The Certificate provides training in interdisciplinary computational neuroscience to graduate students in experimental neuroscience programs and to graduate students in quantitative science programs, such as physics, biophysics, mathematics and engineering. The curriculum includes required core computational neuroscience courses and coursework outside of the student’s home department research focus, i.e. quantitative coursework for students in experimental programs, and neuroscience coursework for students in quantitative programs. To gain valuable experience in interdisciplinary science and collaboration, students are required to participate in an interdisciplinary journal club and to complete a practicum in interdisciplinary computational neuroscience.
Completion of the certificate will prepare students to participate in modern, team-based neuroscience that applies both experimental and computational methods to unravel the mysteries of the brain.

It is designed for those who want to expand their current subject understanding, working capacity or move into a neuroscience-related position. As an online program, it is perfect for individuals with busy schedules and are unable to attend traditional in-person courses.
When applying to this program you are applying to the Ohio State University Graduate School. We will consider all aspects of your package when making our decision. You must have completed a BA or BS degree.
Candidates with a strong background in biology, chemistry, neuroscience or physics or have demonstrated professional experience in a neuroscience-related field are best suited for this program.
In special circumstances a lower GPA but strong relevant work or professional experience will be considered. We will evaluate strength of your personal statement and your overall goals for this program during application review. Certificate participants must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the program in order to be awarded the certificate by the OSU Graduate School.
The Online Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience takes 3 semesters for completion part time, but can be completed in 2 semesters full-time. All classes will be offered asynchronously to offer learners maximum flexibility. The curriculum aims to achieve three major outcomes upon completion:.

Your statement can be no than 2 single-spaced pages (less is acceptable).
This program is 100% online. Courses are asynchronous, but not self-paced. This means that courses follow the Ohio State University academic calendar and have regularly scheduled assignments and deadlines, however you have access to course materials 24 7. Ohio State University utilizes Canvas as a learning management system. Enrolled learners will receive all course materials through Canvas.
For Fall admission, applications open on March 1 and close on July 1.
This program is not currently accepting international students.
To enroll in the Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience, you must submit an application to the OSU Graduate School. Next your application is reviewed by multiple members of the Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience committee. The committee reviews your application holistically based on your prior educational record, work and volunteer experiences, and statements of purpose and approves or denies your admission. Communication of admission to the Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience comes from the Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience committee.
Costs are reported through Ohio State Online. The Graduate Certificate is a total of 15 credit hours.
Program start is defined by the Academic Calendar of Ohio State University. This program begins in Fall semester.
This program is designed to take 3 semesters for part-time enrollees. It is possible to complete the program in 2 semesters at a greater than part-time effort.

The Educational Neuroscience certificate is a stand-alone credential providing a foundation in basic neuroscience, neuroanatomy, and data collection analytic methods applied to educational contexts.
Neuroscience and neuroscience research in education-related areas is one of the fastest growing research areas in the U.S. and internationally. Educational Neuroscience is a rapidly emerging field that incorporates the study of neurodevelopment in typical and diverse developing populations.
This certificate program covers a range of skills important to most educational contexts: neuroanatomy, physiology and brain function and acquisition and analyses of neuroimaging and other data acquisition procedures. There is a specific focus on emotional and cognitive development and on the neural foundations of speech language development and literacy.
Students will apply relevant neuroscience principals to educational contexts: Affective processing and management (including psychopathology), cognitive development, speech language development, and language and literacy applications. This certificate program also develops the ability to apply and interpret underlying neuroscience principals to challenges learners present in educational contexts.
Applicants must also fulfill any additional requirements the department specifies at the time of application.

Letters of Recommendation: A) Students not currently enrolled in UNL graduate programs (new UNL graduate students) require three letters of recommendation. A minimum of two academic references is preferred.
Currently, a minimum of four of the courses offered must be included to fulfill requirements. Two core courses, EDPS 922 and PSYC 865, are required for all students.
Certificate programs are not considered degree programs, so international students should be aware that admission to this program is ineligible for immigration forms for an F-1 student visa.

This 15-credit graduate certificate is tailored to provide current doctoral students in programs outside of the Psychology and Neuroscience Department with core experience in specific areas of neuroscience, including behavioral, cellular, molecular and systems neuroscience. Students also gain an understanding of biological, clinical and psychological approaches to understanding the nervous system.
The Neuroscience Certificate (Graduate) is intended for any Temple students interested in adding highly specialized training and research in the field of neuroscience to their professional résumé.
PhD Specialization in Neuroscience vs. Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience.
For current doctoral students in the Psychology and Neuroscience Department, completion of the Neuroscience Graduate Certificate coursework results in a specialization in neuroscience, and the resulting transcript will reflect a PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience.
Any doctoral student outside of Psychology (and also Biology, Physical Therapy and Pharmacology), who completes the Neuroscience Certificate (Graduate) coursework will receive a PhD in their own discipline, along with the certificate.
In order to complete the Neuroscience Certificate (Graduate), students will fulfill the following requirements.
Include one member of the certificate program on their dissertation committees.
Enroll in the Readings in Neuroscience course, which requires attending and participating in the seminars and journal clubs of the Neuroscience program, for three academic terms of one credit each.
Enroll in two courses in each of the following Neuroscience specialization areas.
The Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience is only available on a full-time basis. Courses completed as part of the Neuroscience Certificate (Graduate) curriculum include the following.
Behavioral Neuroscience, in which students learn topics in systems and behavioral neuroscience.
Neurochemistry, in which students explore the major areas of cellular and molecular neurobiology, including cellular and subcellular components of the nervous system, neuronal excitability and molecular properties of ion channels, biochemistry of synaptic transmission, intracellular signaling, neurochemistry of learning and memory, cell injury and inflammation, and psychiatric neurodegenerative disorders.
Systems and Behavioral Neuroscience, in which students investigate topics in systems and behavioral neuroscience.
A research background in neuroscience provides opportunities for career paths in multiple fields including education, engineering, law, medicine, psychology and public policy.
