UC San Diego Extension Project Management program curriculum is based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) developed by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and fulfills the necessary education hours required to for PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam or PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam. Courses can also be used to maintain the PMP credential. Business Certificate Programs for International Students Information Session. The Project Management Program consists of five required courses (15 units) and at least six elective units. Courses are available in both in-class and online formats, and the entire certificate can be completed online. The program can be completed in one or two years, depending on whether one or multiple classes are taken each quarter. Any student working toward the Project Management Professional Certificate must elect to take every course for a letter grade. A grade of Pass is not acceptable toward the certificate. Students are allowed to change their credit status for a particular course at any time, up to and including the final course meeting. or a passing letter grade. Candidates are encouraged to in the certificate program as early as possible to take advantage of program benefits.
