In addition to the Master of Science in Legal Studies program, National Juris University offers a course of study leading to a Master of Science in Compliance Law. This program is designed for people who need the skills necessary to effectively comply with complex federal and or state regulations. The degree program focuses on the most common areas of government regulation that are relevant to businesses and provides the knowledge and skills to promote compliance in businesses, nongovernment organizations and governmental agencies.

The Master of Science in Compliance Law (Employment Law Track) program is accredited by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)®. Graduates of the accredited NPC program will be eligible to sit for any of the basic compliance exams administered by the CCB.

The William S. Boyd School of Law prepares students for the competent and ethical practice of law, offering three and four-year programs for the Juris Doctor degree.

The University of Wyoming JD / MBA dual degree program takes approximately four years to complete. Students spend three years on-campus engaged in their law studies and one year in the MBA program completing the core curriculum, the summer experiential project, and the experiential leadership program. The MBA Capstone course is completed in the Fall following the core curriculum completion. Students typically start the MBA portion of their degree in the 2nd or 3rd year.

Nine (9) credit hours of approved Law coursework will be shared as elective hours to the MBA Program. Students successfully completing this lock-step program will earn dual Juris Doctor and Masters of Business Administration degrees.

The applicant must notify both the College of Law and the MBA Program that he or she is applying for the dual degree program, and must be admitted by each College to participate. The College of Law admission requirements can be viewed HERE. To remain in the joint program, the student must comply with the minimum performance standards of both the College of Law and Business.

Attorney participation in this field course may be available, depending on the number of qualifying students, at a projected rate of $2,450, which reflects unsubsidized costs and CLE fee. CLE credits have not yet been calculated for the course, but in past years have been 8-9 credits.

Program courses are offered through the School of Extended and Lifelong Learning (SELL) at the University of Montana. A flat fee of $650 credit will apply to each course. Students must take at least six credits to qualify for financial aid in the summer term. In addition, tuition waivers may not fees for summer courses.

Law students taking a course other than Indian Law Research or Mastering Indian Law must have taken a foundational or basic course in Federal Indian or Tribal Law or must also be taking Mastering Indian Law this summer.

Admitted students will be automatically notified when summer registration opens and instructed enroll in Summer Indian Law Program courses.

Approved by the Montana CLE Commission, each course will yield 5 credits (asynchronous remote) or 13.75 credits (all other courses) Montana CLE credits for current legal practitioners. Names of those attending for CLE credit will be submitted to the State Bar of Montana. Attendance at all sessions of the week course is required for full CLE credit. The Master of Studies in Law (MSL) is a new graduate degree program that offers a condensed legal education for those who do not need or want a law degree.

A required introductory course in the first fall semester provides background in the U.S. legal system and the study of law. Otherwise, you will take upper-division law classes related to your interests. There are optional concentrations in Indian Law or in Natural Resources and Environmental Law, and you may take up to 6 hours of graduate-level courses in other departments.

Employers from a variety of sectors in New Mexico strongly support the new MSL degree program. They agree that the MSL offers valuable and practical training.

The UNM Law School is New Mexico only provider of degree programs in law. With an MSL degree, you will gain uncommon knowledge and skills that will distinguish you at your workplace. You will have legal education that is generally available only to Juris Doctor students.

Take law classes that relate to your job or interests.

The MSL is customizable. You'll take one required 4-credit introductory class and choose 26 credit hours of law classes related to your job, interests, area of concentration, or area of focus. Up to 6 hours of graduate-level classes in other departments can count toward the 26 credit hours of law classes.

The MSL program offers concentrations in Indian Law or Natural Resources and Environmental Law.

Students who wish to finish their degree in eight semesters can follow a prescribed program of study.

Study Abroad programs are a great way to expand your horizons and at the same time earn college credit toward the completion of your academic program. If you want to gain international experience and exposure and a distinguishing edge in today competitive job market, then studying abroad is for you. Academically, studying abroad is not only a fun way to earn credits, but it also exposes you to different teaching methods and perspectives on academic topics.

These opportunities consist of programs that are one semester or an entire academic year, or even just for the summer. Each program has its own distinctions and prerequisites.

Students admitted to the highly competitive programs of the Law School receive a breadth and depth of training that prepare them to function in the wide range of activities that occupy the professional lawyer’s life. Students gain firsthand experience with a variety of teaching and learning methods, among them Socratic or inductive teaching, problem solving, seminars, individual research, and clinical experience.

The specific objective of the curriculum is to maximize the student’s mastery of legal reasoning and legal method—in addition to teaching a core of the basic substantive rules of law and imparting an appreciation for its institutions and traditions.

Two degrees are offered through the J. Reuben Clark Law School: Law-JD and Comparative Law—LLM. The university has also approved programs whereby qualified students can obtain a concurrent master’s degree in business administration, public administration, accountancy, education, or public policy while pursuing a law degree.

The Law School seats approximately 140 students each year in its first-year class. The juris doctorate (JD) may be completed no earlier than five fall or winter semesters and no later than sixty months after a student has begun law study at an ABA-approved law school. The LLM students receive their degree on completion of 24 credit hours earned during at least two semesters in residence.

Reuben Clark Law School Building. Reuben Clark Law School building is located near the eastern edge of campus.

Hunter Law Library. The Howard W. Hunter Law Library is one of the leading law libraries in the country and contains an extensive collection of legal materials in both print and electronic format. In addition to offering the latest in technological facilities and services, the library also provides individual study carrels with hookups for computer access to networks, as well as study rooms for group use. Law students also have access to the holdings in the university library, the Harold B. Lee Library.

Cocurricular Programs. Law students publish the Brigham Young University Law Review, the BYU Journal of Public Law, the Brigham Young University Education and Law Journal, and the BYU International Law and Management Review. Law students also participate in the Moot Court Board of Advocates and Trial Advocacy programs.

Externship Program. This program offers an opportunity for students to participate in practical training with private law firms, the judiciary, governmental offices, or international regional offices of legal counsel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many foreign nations.

Student Organizations. Within the Law School, students may participate in a number of organizations, among them the Student Bar Association, the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Society, the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS), the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), the Family Law Society, the Federalist Society, the Government and Politics Legal Society (GPLS), the Immigration Law Forum, the International Law Student Association (ILSA), Jail Outreach, Law Cycling Club (Legal Spin), the Minority Law Student Association (MLSA), the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA), the Natural Resources Law Society, Phi Delta Phi, the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF), Real Estate Law Society, Running Objection, the Student Intellectual Property Law Association (SIPLA), the Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SpEnt), and Women In Law (WIL). For spouses of married law students there is Law Partners, and for single law students there is the Law Singles Society. Many law students also participate in the 5th Grade Mentoring Program.

Some scholarship and loan funds are available to law students. Those interested in these opportunities should inquire at the Law School Admissions Office and the BYU Financial Aid Office.

Since a significant portion of the cost of operating the Law School comes from the tithes of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, students and the families of students who are tithe-paying members have already made a significant contribution to the university and are thus charged a lower tuition than nonmembers. This disparity is similar to the higher tuition charged by law schools of state universities to nonresidents.

The UA Little Rock, William H. Bowen School of Law and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service offer a concurrent JD MPS program. This is the only degree of its kind in the United States. The program allows cross-credit for certain specified courses, offering a potential savings of 17 credit hours in the total credit hours otherwise required for both degrees.

You must apply for admission to, and be accepted by, both Bowen Law School and the Clinton School of Public Service.

After advising is complete, you will sign a Declaration of Intent to Pursue Concurrent Degree Programs.

Nebraska Law offers several joint degree programs for students interested in pursuing an additional course of study outside of the law college. Pursuit of a dual degree typically results in a course of study that is shorter than if the degrees were completed separately. Admission criteria and curriculum requirements vary by program.

The need for professionals with backgrounds in accounting and law are rapidly increasing. Retirement and estate planning, internal auditing, corporate accounting, and forensic accounting are growing fields, and tax attorneys and FBI tax agents are in high demand.

The Law Public Accountancy joint degree program combines concepts and analytic methods from both fields. Students who complete the program will take a wide breadth of courses that provide interdisciplinary insights, preparing them to sit for both the Bar exam and CPA exam.

The Law Business Administration program is designed to integrate the study of law and business and thus expand career opportunities.

Juris Doctor Masters of Community Regional Planning.

Planning is a dynamic profession that works to improve the welfare of people and their communities by creating convenient, equitable, healthful, efficient and attractive places for present and future generations. To create these environments, planners must have a strong understanding of the laws that can, and will, impact their vision for the community. Property law, natural resources and environmental laws, and state and local legislation play an important role in the work of a planner.

Juris Doctorate Master of Arts in Social Gerontology.

The joint Law Gerontology program is designed for students interested in developing a unique expertise and knowledge of the law as it relates to the aging adult population. Career paths for students with an education in law and gerontology can include long-term care and hospital administration, elder abuse victim advocacy, policy research and analysis in the field of aging, veterans affairs and administration, or practice as elder law attorneys.

Juris Doctorate Master of Arts in History.

The joint Law History program is designed to better prepare students for a variety of professional roles in which the knowledge, skills and background of both law and history are important. These roles can be found in a variety of settings in the public and private sectors as well as in teaching and research.

Juris Doctor Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications.

Students in the Law Journalism and Mass Communication program develop an understanding of the role of journalism in a democratic society. They also develop a keen understanding of how the law, particularly Constitutional law and intellectual property law, affects mass media in the United States. Career options for students with a law degree and a masters degree in journalism and mass communication range from political and legal correspondents, to strategic communications roles in law firms, government agencies or non-profit advocacy organizations.

Juris Doctor Master of Arts in Political Science.

Professionals in the world of government face legal and regulatory challenges as they work to influence public policy. Students in the joint Law Political Science program study political institutions and develop an understanding of the laws by which those institutions are bound. They graduate ready to embark on careers in public policy, intelligence or government research. Graduates of this program have also pursued careers in politics, lobbying, advocacy or academia.

Students study and apply theory and research from social, cognitive, clinical and developmental psychology to problems in law and policy. Students who complete this degree program go on to careers in academia, trial consulting, applied research, behavioral analysis, policy research and analysis, and clinical forensic psychology.

Each track provides interdisciplinary training in psychology and law. The juris doctor tracks allow students to sit for the bar exam, while the master of legal studies track does not.

Juris Doctor Master of Public Health Joint Degree Program.

The University of Nebraska College of Law and the University of Nebraska Medical Center have joined together to offer a Law Public Health joint degree program.

Students who want to obtain a Joint Degree must apply and be admitted to both the College of Law and the Graduate Program. Students admitted to both programs are automatically admitted into the Joint Degree program.

Entrance exams for both the law and graduate program are required.

In most circumstances, the applicant must take the Law School Admissions Test and the entrance exam required by the applicable graduate program.

You do not have to make a decision to be a joint degree student right away.

Students currently pursuing a law degree or a graduate degree can become joint degree students when they are partially through their current program. However, there are credit hour limitations that apply. Students should review the specific application requirements for enrolled students for each program.

Students admitted to a joint degree program will pay College of Law tuition rates for all law credits and graduate tuition rates for all graduate courses. Scholarships awarded by the College of Law apply only to law credits.
