The goal of the dual-title degree in AGRO and INTAD is to enable graduate students from AGRO to acquire the knowledge and skills of their primary area of specialization in AGRO, while at the same time gaining the perspective and methods needed for work in the international agriculture.Doctoral students must be admitted into the dual-title degree program in INTAD prior to taking the qualifying examination in their primary graduate program.Dual-title graduate degree students may require an additional semester to fulfill requirements for both areas of study and, therefore, the qualifying examination may be delayed on semester beyond the normal period allowable.Upon completion of the doctoral dissertation, the candidate must pass a final oral examination to earn the Ph.D. degree.Communicate: Graduates of the Agronomy or Horticulture M.S. degree programs will be able to effectively communicate technical knowledge, research findings, and current topics in agronomy or horticulture verbally and in writing to scientists and lay people.

College description: The Horticulture invites applications to the university MS and PhD programs. The university graduate program emphasizes scientific study and original research. Graduates from the university program are targeted to fill positions in academia, government, international organizations, and the private sector.Within these commodities, specialization is available in many areas, including environmental conservation, plant physiology, post-harvest, plant development, plant nutrition, biochemistry, product utilization, pest management, sustainable horticulture, breeding, and biotechnology.All graduate assistantships include a stipend and tuition waiver. The statement of purpose and letters of recommendation are equally important.However, as a rough guideline the university generally expect applicants for the MS program to have a minimum GRE score of 285 and an GPA of 3.0. For PhD applicants the university like to see a GRE score of at least 3.0 and a GPA of 3.0 during the MS program. Graduates are prepared for careers in teaching, research, business, public horticulture or Cooperative Extension. Master-level programs are available to students with degrees in horticulture and to those from other areas seeking opportunities in horticulture-related careers. The MS requires a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate work, including at least 21 credit hours in the major field of study and six of which may be research thesis hours Students in the MS program in Horticulture who are on departmental funding cannot change to the Master of Agriculture program.Admission requirements for the MAg program, a non-thesis degree, are the same as for the MS degree. There is no specific schedule of courses for MS or MAg students or a foreign language requirement for any graduate students in Horticulture.The advisory committee may require additional course work. Students must pass all parts of the written examination before scheduling the required preliminary oral examination The PhD student will conduct independent research and prepare a dissertation through the guidance and direction of an advisory committee.Several minors are available for horticulture graduate students.
