Fordham

For more than half a century, the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program (CPDP) within the Psychology department at Fordham has successfully trained students for research, practice, teaching, and becoming leaders in the field of clinical psychology. We seek to prepare students broadly for multiple careers in psychology. To ensure this diverse education, we maintain a theoretically eclectic faculty and admit students whose theoretical orientations are equally wide-ranging.

The Fordham University does not use any official cut-offs to identify viable applicants, but given the large number of applications the university receive, the university look carefully at GPA and GRE scores. Although the Fordham University consider graduate coursework in assessing the applicant’s background and preparation for doctoral study, the university place little weight on graduate GPA

The GRE General exam is required for us to consider their application. The university can process students who submit materials a bit late, since the university formal review of applications does not typically begin until early January, but without the GRE scores, the university cannot consider an applicant.

The Clinical Psychology Master Program at SF State was founded in 1952 and has been running continually ever since. The program emphasizes theoretical and applied training from psychodynamic, family systems, multicultural and community psychology perspectives. The program provides two years of full-time training, leading to the Master of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Psychology, as well as the academic preparations and pre-master supervised hours for the State of California Marriage and Family Therapy (M.F.T.) license. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences also requires post-master hours for licensure as an M.F.T., and most students complete this roughly within two years after graduation.

Only the general portion of the GRE is required.

Applications without GRE scores are considered incomplete. Applicants must time their taking of the GRE so that the scores are in their application materials by February 1 or the specified due date.

How much do the GRE scores count in admissions Are there cut-off scores The program does not have an absolute cut-off score for the GRE. GRE scores are evaluated as part of the applicant academic record but they are not the primary focus of the application review.

The San Francisco State University does read all applications to the program and in rare cases the university will petition the university to override this GPA requirement when the applicant is outstanding in all other areas.
