Columbia University in the City of New York offers both a Master of Education and Ph.D. in School Psychology program which is a highly selective program that trains students for careers as school psychologists. It is a 69-credit program that provides a degree in Masters in Education that can further lead to certification as a school psychologist in New York State. It is a 3-year program, in which Students work in a school-based internship with a certified school psychologist for a minimum of 1200 hours in the third year. Another one is a doctoral program (Ph.D.) that prepares students for certification as a school psychologist and licensure as a psychologist.

The School Psychology Program is one of the oldest and most prestigious school psychology programs in the nation. The ratio of classroom instruction to field experiences changes throughout the course of the program's three years, with students spending one day a week in their field sites in the first year, three days a week in the second, and five days a week in the third. Students finish the coursework required to prepare them for their practicum and internship fieldwork during their first two years (including summer studies). Assignments for classes and seminars over these two years incorporate fieldwork and provide chances to integrate growing knowledge and abilities.

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) requirements and the Massachusetts state licensing requirements for school psychologists are both met by this program, making graduates immediately eligible for both a state and federal license. The University of Connecticut (UConn) school psychology program requires students to complete 60 credits of coursework to earn the Master of Arts/Sixth-Year Certificate degree. The Educational Psychology sponsors a Master of Arts sixth-year certificate degree. The program is designed so that students can complete all master's/sixth-year program requirements in 3 years of full-time graduate study. It is a policy of the program that all of the course requirements, seminars, and other learning experiences are restricted exclusively to graduate students.

Program requirements exclude credit for undergraduate study, study that is remedial, or study which is designed to remove deficiencies in meeting admission standards. The master's/sixth-year program is designed to involve students in a systematic and reasoned sequential plan of study in order to orient students to the professional practice of school psychology. The program begins with foundation courses in psychology and education. Subsequently, students enrol in skill-related assessment courses, which involve a practice component, and as such they are introduced early in their programs to the application of theory to practice. In most states and training programs, school counselling does not include training or work with special education populations. In addition, most states require three years of graduate school training, including a 1200-hour internship, to become a credentialed school psychologist. In comparison, the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) indicates that accredited master’s degree programs in school counselling include a minimum of two years of full-time study, including 600 hours of supervised internship.

In the school setting, counsellors typically work with the total school population regarding a variety of issues – family and academic problems, career planning, course schedules and problem-solving around course selection and scheduling, etc.

Miami University-Oxford offers a school psychology program that is a 3 year combined Master's (MS) and Educational Specialist (EdS) degree program. The MS degree is earned during the first portion of the program which leads to a school psychologist licensure. Students gain training in assessment, intervention, consultation, mental health counselling, and research methodology. students complete two years of full-time study on campus, plus one full-time school year as an intern in a cooperating school district. Graduates of the School Psychology combined master's degree program will learn to:

• Apply varied methods of assessment for identifying strengths and needs, developing effective services and programs, and measuring progress and outcomes.

The Psychological Sciences offers a doctoral program with emphases in Clinical Psychology, Cognition and Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, and Social Personality Psychology. Certificate description: Developmental psychology and lifespan developmental studies include the scientific study of psychological changes that occur over the life course. Therefore, developmental studies are inherently interested in many of the same questions of other areas of psychology, education, family studies, etc., but by investigating the ways in which particular psychological processes change and develop from infancy to adolescence, and through to adulthood. The purpose of the graduate certificate in lifespan development is to provide students in other areas of psychological study, or human behavior broadly defined, a better understanding of the ways in which psychological functions change with age, as well as the challenges and special considerations that are a part of research with children and adolescents and how they may be different from those of working with adults.

The University of Alabama’s College of Education offers educators the opportunity to earn an EdS in Educational Psychology – School Psychology in a convenient blended format. The program is designed to train future school psychologists to work with teachers in improving the classroom learning environment. Courses focus on data-based decision-making and accountability, intervention and prevention, instructional and school/system factors, and school psychology practice and development.

The coursework includes a combination of online and weekend classes. Each fall and spring semester, students participate in two intensive 10-hour weekend sessions held on the main campus, which provide the opportunity to interact with classmates and faculty. Educators who hold master’s-level certification in Special Education or Psychometry immediately enroll in the EdS program of 69 credits. Highlights of this 2-year program include:

• Upon completion of all required coursework for the EdS and earning the EdS, students will be eligible for Alabama Class AA certification in School Psychology (or equivalent in another state).
• Students participate in a practicum consisting of 150 field hours and a 1200 field-hour internship conducted in a public school setting.
• Students entering the EdS program with a master’s-level certificate in Special Education will be required to complete an additional 150 field hour practicum in assessment early in the program.
• To graduate from the program, students must obtain the program’s passing score or higher on the National School Psychology Examination, which is offered as a Praxis II exam. For Alabama certification, students must pass the Praxis II exam as well as the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program basic skills assessment.

The University of Alabama seeks to deliver degree programs and individual courses in every state, working through the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) where applicable or directly with states to ensure that required approvals are secured. Ball State University offers a 69 credit EdS degree that normally requires 3 years of full time study. It is two years of full-time study on campus for completion of coursework and practica, plus a full-time internship during the third year. This degree helps in developing competencies in culturally relevant and responsive intervention, assessment, consultation, and prevention through course work, clinic- and field-based practica, and an internship through Specialist in Education in School Psychology Program. It is a community-focused program where students gain extensive, direct, and supervised experience with diverse populations. Benefits of studying EdS in School Psychology include:
