With a focus on craftsmanship, risk-taking, and society's role for architects, knowledge is imparted that will help create spaces that are both aesthetically pleasing and responsively designed with environmental and socio-cultural concerns in mind. Through research rooted in a long architectural history, this program ignites innovation with every project undertaken by its participants.
Designed for people with a diverse range of academic backgrounds, a MArch is a STEM-designated program that can be completed within two to three years. Furthermore, it provides students with a NAAB-accredited first professional degree. Additional options are also offered such as dual degrees in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design and joint degrees in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering/Computer Science, Social Work, and Public Health.
For those who excel in architectural studies, a highly selective placement awaits in the four-semester MArch 2 program. This advanced degree commences at all times with a fall semester and consists of 75 credits leading to a professionally accredited Master of Architecture degree. The coursework begins with the final, comprehensive core studio (419) and culminates with the Degree Project. To determine placement into this curriculum, prospective applicants must provide an evaluation of their design portfolio and demonstrate an understanding of their undergraduate architecture studies.

The $85 application fee will be waived for applicants who complete their online application by December 14. Beginning December 15, the application fee is $85 and must be paid online by credit card.

MArch 3 applicants are asked to demonstrate satisfactory completion of one course each of elementary calculus and college physics prior to enrollment. Through the portfolio, MArch 3 applicants are asked to demonstrate ability and experience in freehand drawing and or two or three-dimensional basic design exercises.
MLA applicants must demonstrate satisfactory completion of at least one college-level course in the natural sciences and at least one college-level course in the visual arts, such as drawing, sculpture, graphics, and or basic design. Applicants with an accredited degree in landscape architecture or architecture may be admitted to the MLA 2 program, thus entering the program in the second year of study. Note that the Admissions Committee reserves the right to place students in the program that it deems appropriate, on the basis of portfolio evaluation, transcript evaluation, and overall preparation.

Cornell's professional Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) program uniquely engages global practices through a foundation in making and conceptual thinking. Its close community of talented and dedicated students and faculty work together to push the boundaries of the discipline.
The fully accredited M.Arch. program is a three-and-one-half-year course of study dedicated to preparing graduate students from diverse disciplines and backgrounds for careers in architecture. The M.Arch. program is open to applicants possessing a four-year bachelor's degree in any discipline. Students interested in applying from fields outside architecture are encouraged to enroll in Cornell's Intro to Architecture program.
The M.Arch. program is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). In addition, the M.Arch. program is now designated as a STEM program in Architectural and Building Sciences/Technology (CIP code 04.0902) making international M.Arch. graduates eligible to extend their F-1 visas for up to three years in order to work in the United States.

The Master of Science in Architectural Studies enables students to develop specialized research skills to meet the challenges of tomorrow as an environmental design professional or academic.
The MS program is open to students holding a degree in architecture, as well as students with experience and degrees in allied fields who seek new ways to engage environmental design through advanced research skills. Students develop a specialized focus in one of the school’s program areas or craft their own focus through courses within the college and across campus. To earn this degree, students must complete a total of 32 hours of graduate credit. The program length varies from one to one-and-a-half years and, depending on focus area, may include fieldwork or internships.

The MS in Architecture program allows eligible students enrolled in the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA), Bachelor of Architecture (B Arch) or Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) degree programs to begin working toward a professional degree, a Master of Science, Architecture (MS Arch), as early as the third or fourth year. The MS Arch can usually be completed within two semesters of attaining the B Arch degree and within five semesters of attaining the SBE degree.
Subsequent to being admitted to the Accelerated Master's Program, BLA, B Arch, and SBE students in their third or fourth years begin to take graduate courses in the MS Arch program curriculum. Twelve of the graduate units earned may be used to count toward both degrees. Additional credit taken may satisfy core competencies for Advance Standing with approval and A or B grades earned.
